Hi;
I just picked up a 88 hatchback, almond cream, 4spd, 70 wopping HP, A/C is the only option, doesnt even have a cigarette lighter, seat belts not mounted to doors
Not planning any engine mods, really happy with the 28 to 32 MPG in the city right now,
So far I have put on the Del Sol 5 spoke rims, Eibach springs one inch drop, (pro Kit?) and a passenger side mirror (big time mod there)
What I need to know is what seats will bolt in, i.e. will 88-91 prelude seats fit, I know the delsol seat need slight mods, do the 4dr 88-91 seats fit, do the 92-?? civic seats work
I'm mainly looking for direct bolt in's.
the other thing I desire is the cargo cover with speaker housings I've seen a few on ebay but they alway get more expensive than I expect, plus there are no apparent holes where they should mount. What does Honda get for them? Is it just a matter of drilling holes in the side panels or is are Std hatch panels completely different?
Thanks for any info

Direct bolt in? 88 Hatch seats.. That is all.
4Gs are bastards for putting seats in as they were different every year, and the CRXs are different too.

Thats not good news
the drivers seat in my car looks like an elephant sat in it,
So none of the other 88-91 Hatch seats will fit either???
Guess I'll just buy whatever and fab up some mounts

Hey 1Pahtcx I'm in Houston Texas,
Where are you and what do you want for them?
Not that it matters much but what color are they, and are the rail included,
My driverside rail is hammered

Hey Shomeyrwit.... I'm from a little North of you up around the Dallas area.
But yeah, I found out the hard way that pretty much the only seats that are going to fit without you doing a lot of work are the seats matching your year 4th gen.

There are some pictures of how I mounted my acrua seats up... I think later I'm going to go back in and weld in new mounting rails and surfaces, because the acura seats sit up a little high for my taste.

yeah...it is a pain. the 4-door seats are different too, esp. 90-91 from 88-89 cuz they went to "passive restraints" with the auto seatbelt and the big-ass integrated lap belt roll.
I got 90 Integra seats to fit in my sedan because they had the same funky roll and ALMOST, but not quite bolted in. the two rear bolts lined up, but I had to grind off the front mounts and reposition them to line them up. so like Siz said, good luck. 1PhatCX is in Canada I think dude, so that would be a lot of shipping $$.
Incidentally, I have the 92HP motor (d15b2) and I get 30-31 mpg with mostly city driving while burning oil and with 222,400 miles on the car. I live in kind of a rural area, so sometimes I am doing 60-65 for short sprints, but my commute to work is about 4 miles with 8 traffic lights. So..there is hope for you if you ever decide to swap out your motor for a better one (more HP ;)). Most D-series engines in our 4th gen Civics get great mileage regardless of the HP output. Some of it has to do with the tranny gearing. I had an HF tranny in my car for a while and my mileage jumped to 37mpg during that time, but the car drove like ass cuz the damn gears were too tall.
Oh yeah..and welcome!!

"but the car drove like ass cuz the damn gears were too tall."
Tall gears, I about laughed my ass off when I read the owners manual and it said
"under no circumstances exceed 96mph in 3rd gear"
I didnt think the car would go 96 so I went right out and went 95 in 3rd then over 100 in fourth, have to say I was impressed that that little engine could manage that,
I was getting over 40mpg on hte highway till I went to the wider tires, now it's more in the 35-37 range but still good in town
Thank for the input
