My 93' base model has just reached 100k and almost as soon as it did it started having a very odd problem. Sometimes when I start the car (wether it's in drive or not) the car starts jolting and sputtering and I hear this clicking sound coming from the dashboard, or something behind it, and the needle on the RPM gauge is jumping all over the place, like the car is shifting gears, but it's stil in park, or neutral. And if I start to drive it, forget it, it feels like a bucking bronco. And I hear the engine reving and re-reving and the clicking sound persists, and the rpm's keep jumping from 2,000 to about 3,000 and then down and up and down and up again. I took the car to a mechanic and miraculously teh car didn't do it while he driove it around with me, and so I left the car with him and my dad picked it up today after the guy called and said that he couldn't find a problem. So Today I got into my car and drove it a very short distance and the entire time it did the clicking and jolting thing but much more intensely. And it can't be the way I drive it cause I was being particularly careful. I think my cars auto trans in electronically controlled. It has the ECI feature which I'm told that some cars don't. Does anyone know what this problem is and where it's coming from and how much it would cost me to just fix it? Any infor would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I am not sure exactly what your problem is, but I can tell you this STOP DRIVING THE CAR! Given the problems you're describing you are damaging the engine by continueing to drive it (especially if the timing is off). Its that clicking sound that has me the most worried.
If nothing else, have it towed to a mechanic you trust and knows someting about your car. Have them give you an estimate and come back with the list of issues and we'll be glad to tell you what we think of them.
Again - don't drive the car until you know specifically what the problems are.
