E34 Flywheel

I have a 1996 E34 540 6-speed manual and need some secs on the flywheel. I'm having a dispute with a workshop who when replacing the clutch, skimmed the raised portion of the flywheel, which has led to clutch burn-out after 15000miles. Can anyone tell me what the original distance is, in mm, between the raised face where the clutch friction plate is located, and the lower face where the pressure plate bolts up? Also do BMW recomend skimming the flywheel at all, and if so what are the specs? Altering the distance (by skimming the flywheel) between the pressure plate face and the friction disk will reduce the pressue on the disk against the flywheel, hence slip.

Sorry, dude, but the most technical question that gets answered on this board is, "Do I have a timing belt? Or a timing chain? Or maybe just a really big timing rubber band?"
I would check out unofficialbmw.com to get the kind of technical specs you're talking about.
Although that info would probably be in a Bentley's manual. I just don't have one for your car.
