My driver side power window is making a noise like the glass is getting scratched and the window is not moving smooth. Any ideas?
Thanks

Sounds like the regulator is about to go. If you are mechanically inclined, you can pull off the interior door panel to access the equipment and get a better idea of what is actually happening. Most parts store can sell you a new or rebuilt regulator. Or you can fork over the big bucks and take it to the dealer. A Haynes repair manual ($15) can give you the basic instructions and some photos of how to remove the panel and the regulator.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Do a search for -2000 Silverado Drivers side window quit-, we had a Large Thread instructing how to replace the regulators and assembly. with prices and good details. Look there and it will help you out, I replaced the whole window assembly in my 99' I bought it from the dealer.

After looking for a new regulator, I an finding these parts from 1A Auto on Ebay. The picuter shows the cable and motor assembled on two metal braketet. Do I need to replace these brackets as well?

Yes you do.. It is all one complete assembly, the old one unbolts and the new one bolts right in.

One more question.
When I unbolt the assembly, what happens to the window? Does it stay in place or does it fall into the door? All the post I've read doesn't mention the window so I didn't know.
Thanks

I put mine all the way up into the weather stripping and taped it in place with masking tape, that wont leave a film on the glass and holds it in place. put one peice on each side to ensure the window stays put. Good Luck

I forgot to mention you want to tape the window up before you take the assembly out, putting tape on should be your first move, be careful when the new assembly is in when you take the tape off the glass will move down into place. you will then tighten the fittings that the glass fits into.

This just happened to me today.
Same sound when I went to the drive through window - sounded like the glass was being scratched. I went home and took the regulator out and found the cable was frayed and rusted inside the motor housing.
Piece of junk! I figured those things would last longer than 4 years. My dealer doesn't have the part so I'm driving around with the window clamped in place the door ripped apart.

Just finished installing the window regulator. The part I ordered from the above link was exactly the same as the factory part. Great quality and easy to install.
