help out a fool

ok here is the deal..i just got an '86 trans am off my dads friend. needless to say im fairly new to firebird/trans ams so i dont know much about them. i know that makes me sound truely dumb..but its a flaw i accept..anyhow...they guy cant tell me anything about the engine other than.."uh..its a V8"..anyone familliar with the engine that could maybe give me some specs? or know of sites to get specs?..any help would be great. since i cant look at the engine myself..its in vegas right now..so plz help..

nevermind..i found what i needed..i now know its most likely the LG4 engine unless its a TPI..then it would be the LB9...
