Which Cam Gears would be best? Also other mods

Skunk2 or AEM? What do you guys think would be better for my B18A1? From where I see they're about the same price $220 for the AEM's ($110.64 Each) and $226 for Skunk2 (Both gears included). Also if any of you have a good place to purchase from, let me know.


Also would an AEM (Or other brand) Pulley kit be worth it to get? ($164 I see). I'm about to put about $2000 (after body kit) into my car's engine, any other suggestions would be very helpful.

I thought you want to go turbo, if thats the deal save the 2k til you have enough for the turbo kit or enough to peice your own together. if you really wanna go with the pullies I guess ill vote for the lighter set, if you can get those specs for each set.

Yeah I want a turbo, but wouldn't it be best to build my heads and such first(Cams + gears, springs, valves, ect?)? I've been looking into a stroker kit (2.1L) for my B18... wouldn't that sort of thing be best before a turbo?

well you could build your head first(only got one) but if you arent realy gonna rev higher you dont really need to, when you do all that work to the valvetrain and such(especially since you wont be getting cams) you wont notice that youve just spent all that money, Id just do the turbo first, and then when I had the moeny for the stroker kit, build the block and crank up the boost and then do any kind of headwork last. how fast do you plan on getting with this car. cuz I know I always got overexcited with the plans in my head, alot faster than Id be able to use on the streets.

As ignorant as this sounds, the answer to that question is as fast as possible... I'd like to learn enough and do enough to the car to have it and myself be more than just some kid and his Black integra... I've been looking at a custom set up so I could boost to 500HP at some point... I don't want to make a full race car, I want to keep it something that I can comfortably drive on a regular basis but still be able to goto the track or something turn up the boost and blow people's doors off.

thats not really ignorant, thats how I want my car to be, if you have money or a job, and really have a need for speed your cars never finished. I dont know how people can buy a car and just drive it how it is???

me either... I'm not a stupid driver, I don't drive like a retard and think I'm cool cause I have an exhaust like a lot of people my age or younger. I'm the least likely to race on the streets but I have my limits if people get on my nerves and so far the only people stupid enough have lost horribly... then again they weren't exactly win's to brag about except for a RSX Type-S ... but that surprised me.

yeah, that is surprising, I wouldnt count on a race like that always going that way, I think you beat the driver, not the car.

Yeah the guy didn't pull over afterwards... but he didn't do the Ricer Fly-by ... so I dunno... he held with me till 120 then I pulled on him more... but you're probably right. It made me feel good about my car though :naughty:

I beat a Taraus SHO too... but I kind of saw that coming, the jackass wouldn't shut up... it was a massacre.... it was truely pethetic. he was half way through 5th when I was not even to the end of my 4th gear.

if ya want turbo dont get cams cause you would have to get a turbo cam setup and that would not be the best for you at this time. start building the block. if ya want head work do a port and polish. do some valve work. then when you put on the turbo put on the cams with a turbo profile i would suggest looking at crower cams.

I apreciate your imput, I am looking at a combo of parts, all but one being Crower and the reatainer's are Skunk2, but yeah I was going to just get some Turbo Cams and some good cam gears to go along with them. I have anothe B18A1 and I'm going to build that and once I'm done I will swap it for my current B18A1.

But as far as the Turbo goes, would it still be a good idea to turbo my engine running 5-7 PSI... I'm a bit uneasy with trying that till I build it up, it has 172,500 miles on it, and it's currently burning a bit of oil... no leaks though... atleast exterior. I'd love to just do it but I'd hate to be with out my car because I blew out something from running even that low of boost.

wow, your car must be in hella good shape or had some internal work done in its luife to bump compression a bit or something, cuz my friend had a SHO before, and I raced him in my 3rd gen coupe, stock with 12hp more than the 90-91(what you got right?) and I had I/H/E, I did have 17's but they were p[retty light for 17's at 19lbs each so shouldnt affect me too much. he thoughthis SHO had mods you couldnt see from the eye thopugh cuz he always beat my other friends SHO, but I raced him in my teg and he had me the whole way, I spun a bit too much that race but he had an extra pasenger and a window halfway down the whole way and I still couldnt catch him or even hold the gap, he jkust kept pulling more, at leats 3 or 4 cars ahead of me when I hit 120, didnt bother racing in 5th gear cuz it doesnt really pull much anymore. and my friend used to let me borrow his 91 alot and it was pretty quick off the line to like 60 or 70 but it took a long time tro 100 and after that was dead so if your pulling on a type S at 120, then your cars a freak.

I think it might, the guy from whom I purchased the car has been a real dick to me so I don't talk to him anymore, but people who know his car come up to me ask "is the such-and-suches old car?" and they talk about how much money he put into but none of them know what he did. It's a 93, and the SHO's driver seemed like he knew what he was doing, I had a passenger both of us are about 260-270 lbs and he had two in his car, both looked like 200 or less, I have 17's in it right now, and they're pretty heavy, they came with the car, I hate them, I got a wicked good deal on some white Konig Rated R's, they're 18's :( but they'll do till I can get some 16 or 17 inch white rims. Never used and I got them for $300 ... a friend of mine but one dumb pot head :evillol:

I do admit this car has above average balls... but I figured it was normal and it just felt that way to me because... well I have no clue why. I have no clue how much HP it has I'm dying to take it to a Dyno.
