Need an engine for a 87 Fiero ASAP

Hi,
I'm looking for an enginer for a 87 Fiero...something rebuilt, something in good shape if somebody is looking to do a swap...anything. I've had some back luck with mine and the engine is toast. The jist of it is that the piston shot up and cracked the cylinder head in half...and I don't want to know what damage has been done to the block or the piston or the rest of it. I've told the mechanic not to go any further and I'd just try to find an new/used engine to throw in there. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! I'm living in a small town right now for 6 months...away from family and friends...and it's horrible not having a vehicle!

Thanks very much for help!

Just what kind of bad luck does that kind of damage?

Is it a 4 or 6 cylinder? What are you looking to spend? A factory rebuilt 2.5L long block(new engine that uses your current fuel system and accesories) costs about $900-$1000. A v6 will cost a few hundred dollars more. There are also better deals out there they just take some looking. A good used engine is getting hard to find since it's been 20 years since the first Fiero rolled off the showroom floor, and any good low milage engines pulled from wrecks have long ago found new homes.

As another option, you can call Bob Parker at Kick Hill Fiero farms at 860-642-4362
If you tell him I sent you he might even give you an even better deal on a low mileage used engine that will bolt right in. His shipping costs are very reasonable too.
