You sir, are lame. Before you post something that you are clueless about, you should do some research.

Ford Probe's are identical except for interior and sheetmetal to a Mazda MX6. The drive train and suspension are pure Mazda.

You should know that crossover's amongst automakers are very common. Especially crossovers among US-Japanese linked companies or Euro/US

Ford/Mazda
GM/Toyota
GM/Isuzu
MB/Chrysler (Diamler-Chrysler)
Audi/VW
Mini/BMW
VW/Porsche
Mitsubishi/Chrysler
Ford/Kia

The list continues...

Don't do the 4-cyl to V6 swap. There is too much involved. Also, the V6 won't bolt on to the 4-cyl tranny.

Excuse me sir but Fizer70 your an idiot.

The Specs are totally different. Question any company that creates cars and ask them if the specs are EXACTLY the same for two cars (one marketed in the US and one marketed Japan/Euro).

You will find the specs are completely different because many factors are taken in to account when creating a car for the US market and the Euro/Japanese market. I think YOU should do some research on Emissions laws and the statutes behind world economic trade. I think you would find that however SIMILAR the cars may look and the Similarities between parts manufactured by different companies that are in place on cars, the cars are not EXACTLY the same, just SIMILAR.

I'd try to go with a Probe Gt motor swap if you can find one and if you can it would probably be more powerful then the v6.

Please spare me. Don't get sore because you are wrong. "Your Ford is domestic. JDM is jap. nuff' said." I laugh at you. You jump to the conclusion that because it says "Ford" on it it's automagically devoid of any non-US content. Where did this new arguement of yours come from? No one ever mentioned emissions and trade laws? Are you just trying to change the subject just to make yourself look good? The issue here is the fact that you can't distinguish the origins of a car just because of a badge. Now what other vehicle does that VW Touareg share a platform with?

Also, where in my post does it say "JDM"? I think you are reading into my post what you want to read. Here are the key words so you don't have strain yourself: "The drive train and suspension are pure Mazda."

Similarities between parts manufactured by different companies that are in place on cars, the cars are not EXACTLY the same, just SIMILAR.

Exactly, shmegzactly. Now you are just arguing semantics just to save face. Of course the engines are different. Why in the world would anyone in the US want it if it wasn't different and spec'd for more than 33 crank hp than a US Ford Probe GT engine?

How close do you want the 2 engines to be? The swap can be done easily. The casted in EGR port and tapped bolt holes for the EGR valve are already in the head. The engine mounts are *exactly the same*, the engine block, crank, rods, oil pump, oil pan are exactly the same as the US Ford Probe (KLDE). The KLZE heads are exactly the same as the US market Mazda Millenia heads. The only differences between the KLZE engine and a USDM KLDE engine are the lack of the EGR valve (just swap it over from the KLDE and bolt it on), the distributor (swap it over...it fits exactly the same), the cams (more duration and lift...and they still pass emissions just fine), the pistons (10.1:1 vs 9.2:1), the spark plugs (less protrusion into the combustion chamber), and the intake manifold (flows better, no EGR piping but you can add that easily [drill, drill, add pipe...done])

There you have it. A JDM engine that will pass any emissions test any state can throw at it.

Honestly, the V6 swap will require a parts car to get everything you need. A turbocharged 4 cyl may not be worth it either (but a fun project). You are starting at a really low base level power (~100 whp). Some of the guys on probetalk.com and MX6.com have only mustered 150-~200 whp which pretty much brings you up to the peak whp of a N/A KLDE with basic bolt-ons (~150 whp) or a cammed KLZE with all bolt-ons (~200 whp). I'm sure you can do better than 200 whp with the 4-cyl but you'd have to get away from your simple FMU/AFPR style of fuel management and switch to a stand-alone engine management unit like an SDS/Haltech/Megasquirt/etc. that would basically replace the stock ECU.

I'm not a pro on the 4-cyls tho'. So as someone mentioned, refer to www.probetalk.com for more information.

Fizer70, you are a waste of my air. To correct this please stop breathing now.

I completely understand your arguement; however, you missed mine. It is totally LAME to put a JDM engine or JDM parts or JDM anything in a car thats is Domestic.

It would be like me putting a 427 in my porsche and going "yah I have a porsche that is really fast because of a CHEVY powerplant." Totally Lame.

You need to brush up on your listening and evaluating skills.

And you didn't even mention the statutes behind world economic trade I told you to study up on. You disappoint me Fizer70.

Phantom2: Keep a civil tongue in your head, noob.
