what exactly do you have...a turbo, and intercooler pipes, im guessing you have an intercooler, but you are going to need more than just that, make a list of everything your friend sold to you and post it...I was looking into trowing a turbo on my gs but bought a gs-t instead...how many miles are on your car, depending on how much boost you want to run you might want to think about new internals and such.

unless he got the intercooler piping from a place that makes them for non turbos, or he made them custom they wont work!!! go to the top of the forum and read my thread about Turboing an RS/GS... if you are serious about it that will help you out!

Not to put down the N/T's but the time and cost of turboing a non turbo sucks... better off starting with a 4G63 otherwise you are going to be using a motor that isn't designed for a turbo. The compression ratios for turbo and non turbo are different. I believe the ratio is less on a turbo..... and I believe the pistons are different if memory serves me right.... You add boost to a non-turbo and you are looking at piston blow by and such. The COST is great cause you need new intake from the Air filter to the intake manifold(turbo throttle body is on pass. side, N/T is on drivers side) and new exhaust manifold for the turbo if not a whole new exhaust system. I have read this from quite a few places in the past, which is why I got my GS-T. I hope this helps and doesn't rain on your sunny day....

I am going to totally disagree.. a RS or even a GS is a couple of grand cheaper than a GST. So when you spend that couple of grand in a turbo you will be faster than a GST, if not that at least with one.
And for turboing it we are not using all the stuff from a GST. The cost is less than 2000.

its been 1 year, 1 month, and 2 days since i started my car... RS that i turboed, and i havent yet had any problems with it!!! 15psi daily, 21-22psi race... i usually keep it around 19-20 just cause its fun, but the thing is... if you have never done a turbo kit or built a 420a motor then dont knock it until you try it! oh and if you still think it's a waste, wanna race? i'll give you a semi truck lead!!! :sly:

gs and rs have an unbelievably strong block...dont know why people dis it I owned a 98 gs ever since i was 16 still have it actually, I bought a 97 gs-t when i was in AZ (live in MN) low miles and no rust (gotta love out of state cars) and it cost me 3 grand more than my gs did and it is in alot better shape...I was thinking about turboing my gs (alot of friends have) but it was cheaper to get my new car...either wa you go you can run unbelievable hp if you know what you are doing. so go with what you have and do what is the cheapest for you..IMO

add one more to the disagree pile, I boosted my 95 gs with a kit from Hahn (stage 2) and I have since been able to take moderately modded gst's. for some reason this motor just ends up with more output than the gst when it recieves boost. no the internals were not "intended" to be turbo charged but in my opinion, this only aplies to idiots that try to run too much at once.
by the way, since we are on the subject, so far I have just heard hp ratings for turboed gs /rs with the stock internals. lets say someone dicided to go in the block and change the internals, what would be a good start and with this (modded) block what kind of gains would it make , other than running more boost, safer?

I'd say way it counts the most. The pistons, rods, and bolts. just my :2cents:
