I notice that my Amp over heats rahter quickly, I would say within 15-20 mins some times even 10 mins. So... I decided to go out and buy a 12v cooling fan. But I'm having trouble figureing out how to hook it up. Again I had a friend hook my system up so I'm not totally down on what to do, but I do understand some of it. I know where the remote wire is and what not. I see where manny people say to hook it up to the remote wire, I was wondering if u could give me some what , a in depth detail on how to do that, like where the negative and postive wires go. or if u have a better solution to share with me. Thank you all very much

i have never hooked up one of those fans before but i am guessing that you could strip off a little of the plastic wire sheath that covers the wire and then hook your positive up to that and then ground the negative by drilling a hole in metal and scraping off the paint so it is bare metal and then put one of those ring things on the end of the negative wire and then puting a screw into that hole with the ring around it. if this doesn't work or sound good to you then you could run a new wire all the way from your battery to a switch up front and then to the fan, but it is all up to you. i hope this helps and works.

yeah the remote wire, if you used your power wire then you would have to put a switch on it.

I tried out ur first suggestion, but there is to much interference with the Subbs by having it connected to the remote wire. I havent figured out how to do the second one yet, i have most the stuff though

If your amp is over heating that quick he may have the speakers hooked up incorrectly, your amp may only be 2 ohm stable and you have 2 subs that are DVC 4 ohm hooked in paralell + to + to + to + and - to - to - to - which would bring your amp way down below 2 ohms which would cause major overheating problem's.
tell us what you have and that will help out!

a Q-Reference Series by Alphansanik package deal thing i bought from Circuit city a few weeks ago. It came with two 10 inch boxed 200 watt subbs, and a 360 watt amp. The subbs are 4 ohm, not sure about the amp i guess ill trust u that its 2 ohm. When my friend hooked it up, we had problems finding were to hook it up to in the head unit. We couldnt get it out. so we took out the seperate honda CD player and hooked it up behind that, and then hooked to remote wire up to after market 6 x 9 speakers. not only does it over heat, but when i turn my AC on it shuts the Amp off! lol, but i think i got most of the over heating thing solved for the most part, it didnt over heat once on me today, I finnaly mounted my amp to my sub box and then de-brigeded it which has made it weaker but i think that helped it as well. ur thoughts and ideas are wanted for trying to improve my over all system. just give me some ideas

If you un-bridged your amp then that was the problem, you were running your amp to low of an OHM! Trying to get more power than it could handle. Yes it will be less powerful now but that is what happens when you run an amp at specific ohm's. Remember when you buy an amp when it says MAX watts that is what it means in a perfect condition 14.4 volts from your ALT. you want to look for RMS what the amp will put out continious without overloading the amp (over heating).
