was losing oil pressure when ideling. Decided to change the oil and check on the oil pump. Noticed that there was a gas smell to the oil. Is there anything other than having the piston rings going bad that could cause this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

What year is your jeep ? Is it carburated or fuel injected ? Carburators will often have floats stick or get out of adjustment causing excess fuel to enter the engine. Everyone knows what a sticking choke can do as well.... Does it run rich with the tell tale sign of balck smoke at the tail pipe ?

It is a 1991, 6 cylinder with fuel injectors. No smokeing like it is running rich or burning oil.

If it is on older motor with a mechnical fuel pump, i'd say the diaphram in the fuel pump is bad.
