I recently installed an amplifier to my aftermarket stereo system. I mounted in on the back wall of my (extended cab) interior. Somehow, when I was reinstalling the back seats, I managed to break the mechanism that locks the rear seat in the "up" position. Has anyone ever experienced this or can anyone give me some advice on how to fix it. Thanks.

Does anybody even know how the mechanism to lock the back seat into the upright position works?

mine has a strap that comes out from the seat bottom to release the catch to raise and lower it. Sounds like you may have something in a bind or trapped. Look closely at the hinge area to see if something is interferring with the seat movement.

I know that you pull the strap to get the seat to go up, but my question is where is the device that holds it up? If anybody can help, I would appreciate it.

i believe the mechanism is in the bottom of the seat and has a pin that locks in the inside corner of the hinge check to make sure the amp is not keeping the seat fron moving back if the bottom of the seat can not move back it will not lock also mack sure both the metal tabs toward the top of the seat are in the metal loops on the rear panel. if the seat locks in the down position then something is keeping the seat bottom from moving back far unof to lock. good luck
