I have a completly stock 88 Bird with the 3.8 V6. I want to get faster acceleration out of it and bring up the hp but I pretty much have no cash. Also switching to a V8 is out of the question for me. To top that off I'm not that knowlegeable when it comes to upgrades. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can make this happen?

Only hp uppers I can think of without any money and SOME tools are to remove the air silencer.
And the "lightweight stage one kit" for the financially challenged goes for about $0.It just requires a day of your time and for you to clean the trunk and the inside of your car.

Go to www.truckperformance.com . Also a sometimes cheap addition that can help a little. Have you tried a cone filter yet?
Hope I could help.

Thanks alot this website does help quite a bit. I've never thought about putting a cone filter in. I guess I got plenty to do this weekend. Thanks again.

Does removing the air silencer allow moisture to get up into the air filter, like on rainy days?
I want to do this, but it looks like the filter is totally exposed to the elements this way.

A little yes, but normaly with a K&N filter the oil on the filter will repel the water.

Thanks Muscle. I read somewhere (maybe on here) that the oil from the K&N might mess up your MAF sensor - any of you hear that one?
I removed that silencer by the way, and damn did I notice a difference on the interstate! Thanks!
