2000 Jimmy - humming sound

I've been noticing a humming sound which starts when I drive above 40km/hr and gets louder as my speed increases. The noise would disappear when I turn the wheel (left or right) when driving around a curve or a bend. I'm not sure where the sound is coming from, but I think it's coming from the front. I can't tell if it is on the left or right side. At first I thought it might be an unevenly worn tire making the noise, but how come the noise disappears when I turn the wheel.
Any thoughts on what this could be?

You have a bad or two bad front wheel bearings.

Have your dealer check them out.

Avoid switching to an aftermarket hub assembly, it will only cause troubles again in a year.

GM has updated their wheel bearing and I have yet to see one of the new hubs go bad -- > And I have replaced many, many, many hubs.

Hope this helps.

I have a 1999 Blazer, same noise. Changed both hubs, bearings, tires, still have humming noise.

Last time I purchase a Chevy anything. In the 80's Chevy was the best, not sure want has happened, but this is my 3rd chevy in the 90's not happy!

Zulma, couple questions for you:

Did a GM garage diagnose the hum?
and
Were GM hub assemblies used as replacement parts?

Have you had it diagnosed further?

Just curious :2cents:
