I started this one week ago today. I needed a quick build to get me in the mood to finish the Rambler wagon.
It's painted Tamiya metallic blue. The only addition to this car were the 18" RUF wheels. The rest is box stock. The dashboard is aluminum BMF. The interior colors are Tamiya neutral grey and field blue.
I really like the low slung-back windshield on this car. It makes it look fast, even sitting still.
Heres some pics. Let me know what you think!

Funny thing... I was just reading an article about the speedster.
Sweet! Quick build of a quick car!
What kit is that?

The kit is by Fujimi. The box art shows the flat hardtop speedster version. Like this

Looks good in this combo. I definitely like the "normal" tonneau more than the racing style. Did you know that when this car was sold in the US, it only came w/the wide Turbo-look body? The models are all of the Euro/rest of the world narrow body. I don't think I've ever seen a Speedster w/the narrow body in real life. They look pretty sweet w/the wide body. I remember looking at them in the local showroom...they commanded a healthy premium over sticker for several years.

Looks great. One of the few cars if seen where the metallic paint doesn't look out of scale.

I love those RUF wheels, they're particularly looking good, and accurate, as A.Ruf has always prefered narrow versions to wide ones...
Interior is perfect, and the whole model looks like a Tamiya kit!
Many of us would sure like to "quick build" like you've done! (hem! toss! toss!...)

Man, it looks so good, it has to, after all it's a Porsche! And you built it in one week! Boy that's fast, at least for me, I've been struggling with the body painting of a Calsonic Skyline for about one month! But then again I only have time on weekends (some of them). Congratulations!

Thanks for all the positive feedback. :)
I was surprised at how fast this came together. Everything went right the first time, which is rare when I build. Something usually goes wrong eventually.
I saw a photo of the real speedster with RUF wheels, and had to change them. I agree with you guys, they really make this car nice. It would be bland with the typical 911 wheels of the era.
I'm starting the new Hasegawa Lamborghini Miura tonight! :naughty:

Very nice. I dunno which tonneau I prefer, but it looks great either way! Great work on the interior, your BMF work looks like a photo-etch. I can never get it to lay down that well. Great work!

Thanks.
I was going to use the flat-top just to be different and unique. But opted to be normal this build.. :)
To get that BMF like that was pretty simple. See how the top of the dash has a lip? I pressed the dash onto the foil to leave an impression. Then I cut it carefully along the inside of the imprint line. It fit inside the space with out any bending or trimming of the foil needed. Only the bottom of the piece needed trimmed. This works for round headlights and tail-lights too. Press the lens to the foil and you've got the perfect shape to cut.
For odd shaped lights and lenses i use the lens as the guide. press the shiny side into the back of the lens. I keep it held there with blue tack. And then use the edge of the lens as my guide. For cars like the S2000 with odd shaped rear lens housings this works great.
Hope this makes sense..
Thanks.
