Towing 4 Down

I have a '01 V6 TRD with manual trans. Has anyone towed their truck behind a motorhome without using a dolly. The manual says no, but many manufactures disallow towing because of liability issues, not mechanical issues. Remco.com makes a driveshaft disconnect that works with many vehicles with auto transmissions. I'm hoping I wont need to get this though.
If you do tow, do you put both shifters in N, and key in ACC? Is there any fuses to pull?
Thanks much,
Steve

Four-wheel-drive vehicles that do not have a neutral position in the transfer case should not be flat-towed without modifications. On a 4X4 Tacmoa, both shifters should be placed in Neutral. A trailer is the safest way to transport them. Some can also be transported with the front axle on a tow dolly with a rear-driveshaft disconnect device, such as that supplied by Remco: (800) 228-2481 or www.remcotowing.com

Towing Toyotas
MotorHome
May 2003
Q. We often see Toyotas cars and trucks being flat-towed behind motorhomes, yet they are not listed in the dinghy towing guide. Why?
A. MotorHome magazine only lists vehicles that are approved by their manufacturer for towing. These vehicles are covered by warranty when towed, and have been extensively tested for towability. The only model Toyota currently approves for towing is the RAV4 (2WD and 4WD) with manual transmission. Some other model's drivetrains may be mechanically capable of being towed without damage, but are not approved by the manufacturer for various other reasons.
Also found this on their website, hope this info helps.
