About how much have some of you guys paid for a new paintjob? I have a 93, and im trying to get a price range. Of course i would keep it black, because black is an awesome color, but i hear its also less expensive if you have it done the same color. Any ideas?

yeah actually my black IROC is in the shop as we speak. I kept it black but made it a metallic black. cost about 750. I dont now if its a lot or not b.c i got a deal with a family member who works for a very respectable body shop here in redondo beach CA. Ima go get it this thursday. CANT WAIT! oh and btw, it costs A LOT LESS to keep it the same color. well that is cause of the labor costs of taking off the doors and the fenders and everything to change the color under there.. hope it helps. :smokin:

Just drive it into a wire fence then call up ur insurance and have it done for free. u might even get extra cash if u got the hook up with some one at the paint shop.

well.. as you can see in the picture below, my car looks fine from about 15-20 feet away, but if you get within 5 feet it looks like someone washed my car with a wire brush.. and the insurance company would laugh at me if i drove into a fence, i only have PLPD, because full coverage is a bitch when you're 18..

I am 19 and the insurance is under my moms name. I am not even on it. If something happens all u have to do is say that ur parents let u borrow it thats what our lawyer said. All of my family does that even my 30 year old cousins. they all got the insurance under their moms name and they don't drive sports cars.

hmm. well i'm back to work now, so it wont matter, im starting to rethink the whole paintjob idea. Might just buy a newer Camaro Z28 or Trans Am

Well I think if your just not happy with the paintjob but like the car, well hell, get it painted. i think its like taking a risk to go and try to find another car in good condition that hasnt been abused. If your happy with other aspects about the car, just get it painted. :2cents:

new paint job'll be a hell of a lot cheaper than a new car. of course its all personal preference, do whatever your foot desires...

it costed me 1,300 to repaint my 87 trans am
gloss black, and the body shop took her down to the
metal, and repainted the insides of the doors, under the
hood and trunk. looks like factory paint, and has a
3 year warranty aganst and cracking or webing in the
paint. i could have pulled the old key it up on wal mart parking
lot but i rescued this car from being crushed at the local
junk yard. if i had a way to post pix i would.

try rubbing compound and re waxing it, i did that, my black truck looked the exact same way, it got washed with a brillow type pad, lots of buffing and waxing and it turned out alot better
