End of the M3???

The M3 is presently only available in a 2 door, but soon there will no longer be a 2 door 3-series. According to many magazines the 325Ci and the 330Ci models will become the 4-series, and it has been said that there will be a 400 bhp M4 shortly after the debut of the 4-series (along with an M2 and an M6). I was just wondering if anyone knows whether or not they will keep the name M3 alive in the sedan, or will they end the name only for it to go down as a legend. Post your knowledge/thoughts here.

call me a girl. call me a sissy. call me a crybaby. but i will be literally heartbroken if the M3 leaves us. M2??? no way. M4? ur kidding me. NOTHING could EVER replace the M3, and even if it did abandon the coupe version, it would be the end of an icon. exotic performance w/ 4 seats and a great price.whats going on with BMW these past few years. bangle destroying the marque(although i kind of like the 7).making an SUV. almost being sold to volkswagen. for such a young kid whos never even driven a car, id be unbelievably saddened if i never got to experience the REAL BMW. the M3 could be the european mustang, the affordable sports car that lasted through generations. if BMW takes away the M3, i solemnly swear on my life i will never buy a BMW from once i learn how to drive, till the very day i die. ill devote my life to mercedes and audi. they wont take away the M3. they CANT take away the M3.

BMW is going crazy. I'll just imagine that the company went out of buisness in '02.

I don't see why they would replace the M3 it has been around for quite sometime now. It has been known around the world! Hopefully they keep it and not bring it down as a legend.

People will certainly have to die if the M3 goes away, i mean its a legacy. But i dont think that they'd get rid of it, it is such a popular car. I kinda thought the M2 idea was kinda cool but not at the expense of the M3

Didnt they drop the M3 line for a little while but completly redo the whole thing, then bring it back?

I think your thinking about the M5, which is being redesigned to fit the new body style. You can go to bmw's website and still see the M3, but not the M5.
I pretty much agree with what everyone here is saying about the possible end of the m3. It is one of the greatest cars ever made, and began an entire new style of making cars. Im not sure what i think about the m2 yet, I guess ill have to see it before i can judge it. I believe the m4's preformance, if not its styling, will make it a worthy decendent of the m3, but i will always remember the beauty of that car. I dont see me stopping buying BMWs, but I guess i'll just have to hold on to mine and remember the good old days...
