This saturday night, i took a ride in a 92 integra ls, swapped b16 (99 si, 160 hp). It had zex camshafts, aem intake, moroso(?) exhaust, and an act clutch. I'm not sure what stage clutch or cams it had but that thing flew! I couldn't believe the difference those cams make in acceleration. I am seriouly considering getting a pair of those badboys now...From the seat of my pants feeling, i think that thing would take me by at at least 2 cars through the 1/4.... now to the point of my story, well find out on may 1st! New England Dragway is having import wars, im heading up there with that car, another tuned si, a 95 civic hatch with a jdm b16 (170 hp) swap, and possibly others. If anyone on this forums is going to that let me know, ill be there with the green 4 door gsr hopefully running flat 15's.. ill keep you guys posted

yeah dude, check it out - May 2004 schedule (http://www.newenglanddragway.com/schedule/calendar/2004/05_2004.shtml) This will actually be my first time going to the 1/4 mile strip, im really quite excited. I'm all excited, taking out my back seats, switching over to sythetic oil, and cleaning my air filter before i go... cant wait! I think its like an hour from my place and i have to calculate exactly how much gas im going to need to get there and back, im def not going on a full tank.

Just switching to Sythetic Oil won't do ya much good, you need to run it for... well... ever... Unless I missed something, my engine right now has too many miles for me to waste my money on Sythetic oil... soon... soon I'll have my built B18A1 with turbo.

no, you actually arent even supposed to start with synthetic, you need to break in with the petroleum based crap for a while then switch.

Really? Well I'm sure mine has been, 172,500+ miles... lol would it even be worth it now to do so?

I wouldnt, I have heard that your engine can actually start top leak because sometimes after a while, gunk is built up around seals and is helping them seal, with synthetic it busts em loose and can cause leaks. didnt happen to me though and I had 123k. but yeah, for sure your broken in.

So obviously if I got new seals and gaskets, which would kind of be considered a re-build (not completely I'm sure) then I'd have to break it in again, which would be about 2K miles?

well, I dont think you realy need to go 2k miles, I mean the easier you take it for longer is better but I dont think its necessary, I was only gonna break mine in for around 800. I only got 15 on it before the wreck though. should be in my hatch soon and the breakin will continue, but yeah if you rebuild youll most liekly be replacing every seal and gasket, I mean why not, your in there, better to do it when its easy to get to than find a leak down the road and have a long tear down to replace it.

Exactly, I was amazed when I found out a rebuild is just seals and gaskets.... I thought it was more.

a rebuild isnt only gaskets and selas, its alot more, depending on how toasted your engine is, at the very least you should replace the pistons rings and hone the cylinders, and at least check bearing tolerances and possibly replace, maybe replace other parts that show severe wear or damage

im pretty sure i heard that its just a myth that you need to ween your engine into synthetic oil, but if its not, what are the reasons that you have to do that?

I dont really know why, seems like if synthetic opil is better it would be better to break in on that, but ive always heard not too and when i rebuilt mine at the shop nearby the mechanic there told me to make sure I break it in with the cheap crap cuz he saw the 5 quart jug of mobil 1 synthetic in my trunk.
