I have a story to tell. Its long, but otherwise pretty good. Please post your stories also in this thread.
Im 16 and on weekends I drive my dads E32 IL. Well my mom has a Honda Accord which I've gone 125 in, and yesterday night (friday) I was determined to beat my record. I went to the movies with three other friends (they were amazed with the rear power seats, by the way) to see "Orange County." Well when we left and as soon as I hit the on ramp to 90 East (which has a 55 mph speed limit,) I floored it. The car quickly hit 100, then 120, then soon I hit 130. We were passing cars so fast that my friends were getting scared. It seemed like the world was slowing down, not us speeding up. I hit 136 before I started slowing down! The reason I slowed down (and this has got to be godly intervention, I swear) is because three cars were blocking all three lanes of traffic. I had to put a lot of pressure on the brakes and I moved over to the far right lane where the farthest car was so I wouldn't spin out. As my friends and I were congratulating ourselfs on a job well done I notice a squad car with no lights on behind me and to the left. "oh crap. Don't worry he's probably just going somewhere," I say to myself. By this time I had been cruising at 75 for about a minute. Then he goes behind me into my lane and I KNEW I was screwed. When his lights turned on I knew my fate was sealed. I pull over to the shoulder and wait what seemed like an hour before he came to the passenger window and shined a bright flashlight in my face. "step out of the vehicle son" At this point im ready to start tearing up, maybe he would feel sorry for me and let me go. My whole body was pulsating with the beat of my heart. I was prepared for the worst. He asks, "do you know why im pulling you over?" "uuuuuhhhhh...I didn't use my..uh...turn signal?"
"yes, that too but WHAT ELSE?" (at this point I had no intention of giving away my speed so I said) "uuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhh... um.. well, I was kinda, well...going kinda fast...im really sorry"
He says, "yah well I clocked you at 83 WHILE YOU WERE BRAKING." I wonder now whether or not he saw the relief in my face. He also added "yah, you were flying." It was very ironic when he said that because my friends were commenting before on how my car was like an airplane. So all in all the nice officer Hodges ticketed me for speeding and gave me just a warning for turn signal usage and a broken license plate light. If those three cars weren't blocking the way, I probably would've been arrested, impounded, and most likely grounded for life. So now im left with the decision on when to break the news of my first ticket to my parents. Pending a court date in March I'll give more information on my situation.

Dennis.
PS It wouldve been really nice to see the real top speed in that car, because I was only on 4000 RPM.

You had just about hit the top speed... I believe they are limited (stupid chip) to 140.

Not to mention that a blow out at the speed you were going could have killed all of you and possibly anyone else you hit.... not a smart move on your part.

Once, a few years back, I was driving back from a movie as well, I had one friend in my car that could out drive me any day and has an extremely modified car which is much faster than mine. I wanted to show him how smooth a 7er is at speed in comparison to his car. There was no one else on the road at this time, so I floored it... hit around 120 (in a 65) and got a KA blip on the radar... No sooner had I slammed on the brakes, a cruiser pulls out behind me. At this point I get off the brakes and pull into the right lane, a red and blue steady light go on... I pull off onto the shoulder and sit with my hands on the wheel. The cop walks up to my car and the first words out of his mouth(I had already rolled the window down) are what does your licence plate mean(It's a vanity plate)? I explain it, tell him the year of my car, about what tires/rims I have, and the other brake/suspension mods I have and he then writes me a ticket for 83+ in a 65 and illegal lighting for my clear turn signal indicators. He illuded to the fact that there wasn't anyone else on the road and as far as the safety of my car I might as well have been going the speed on the ticket!!! Well the indicators are dot approved so I simply got that part knocked off at a police station a few days later and went to traffic school, no more damage. Man I never thought I would meet a cop who liked (or had enough respect for?) 7 series BMWs enough to basically encourage that kind of horrible behavior...

i dont drive a particularly fast car (1.6 Golf) but i like having fun in it anyway. i was on this roundabout 2 mins from my house at about 4am, with a friend of mine in the car. she doesnt mind it when i drive like a nut, but only when i know the road. it had been raining pretty hard, the ground very greasy. so im going fairly fast around the roundabout and pull a nice handbrake turn. as i straighten up i hit the brakes for some lights that had just changed to red on the roundabout. Only problem was that i hadnt noticed the Ford Fiesta police car in front of me, and i had now pulled alongside it. the passenger cop asks me to pull over to the side of the road, so i do just that, thinking to myself "f*ck! i cant believe i didnt see those cops".
he steps out of the car and asks me why i was driving like a hooligan. i thought the only way to get out of it would be to pretend that it didnt happen intentionally, and that i had got cuaght out by the slippery road. so i did it on purpose to pretend to be really scared by what had just happened. to cut it short, i pretended that i unintentionally lost control of the car and was not intending to drive like a hooligan. im sure he saw through me, a FWD car could never get so sideways unintentionally at that speed. so i think he took pity on me, gave me a lecture about driving sensibly etc etc etc and let me off with an (unofficial) warning! nice cops, who would have known.

a good friend of mine used to drive around from the age of 14 (illegally, obviously), he drove his older brother's Peugeot 205 1.9 Gti, which was very fast. the car was pimped up and had the fattest, loudest exhaust i have ever seen, even to this day. not exactly intelligent to be illegally driving a car that attracted so much attention, but he did it anyway. The number of times he drove away from police cars who wanted to pull him over is uncountable. the few times he did get caught, he pretended to be his bro and showed them his brother's license which he carried on him while driving the car, they looked identical. then all that would happen is that the older brother would turn up in court and submit evidence that he was elsewhere, which he obviously was. They got away with it everytime, though i wouldnt recommend this process to anyone

cheers

Thats nothing my 1991 Honda Civic was clocked at 145 mph by a small town cop (who was my friend, we were seeing how fast the civic would go)

You can probably get away with traffic school, or the prosecutor might change it to an expensive parking ticket (which i got for going > 30 on my motorcycle). Just remember to be really really nice to them, and say "Look I know I screwed up but I really can't afford the insurance hike. I promise (yeah say it b/c it doesnt mean jack) not to repeat this kind of childish behavior again"... things like that, and you might get out of it clean. Other than that, congratulations but you are still 14mph shy of the over 150mph club :)
