Yet another girl problem

I just got back from senior trip to Disney World last saturday. I had a very fun time yet something about was unsettling.
Heres the info
The Girl: she is a senior at my high school. I have never seen her in school or outside, we hung out with different crowds i guess. She is very smart and is pretty good looking (she aint the hottest yet she aint ugly).
What Happened: The first time i saw her was at work (gas station attendant in NJ for people who dont kno). I notice that she was from my school from the parkin decal yet i didnt kno who it was. somehow she knew who i was and we started to talk while she was filling up her car. i felt real bad that she knew me and i didnt kno her. she came again a day before senior trip, i asked her name and we got into a conversation, i told her we should hang out on senior trip. she agreed. On the first day at the airport we got delayed 3 hours at the airport dued to bad weather. During the delay, she came over and we started to talked for the whole time. It seemed we had a lot in common, and she is very easy to talk to. During the first couple of days she was constant talking to me when we crossed paths during the park, i was hangin with my friends the first two days. At the end to the second day i wanted her to hang out with our group the next day. However our group spilt up for the day and we went our seperate ways, i decided to hang out with her for the whole day at epcot. i was flirting with her during most of the trip and she was doing it back. I believe that was the peak because the last two days she slowly started to ignore me. Giving me the cold shoulder real bad.
The Problem: On the first night we were waiting outside for our room keys, and he was late. I was hanging with her poolside along with friends that we both knew. we talked about college and trip when someone mention prom. I told her i was lookin for someone or goin by myself, she answered the same way. A few minutes later she asked me to prom (that was a surprise to me cause i would have eventually asked her, however it made things easier for me). i agreed. When she started to ignore me i started to worry that didnt want to go to prom with me. I asked her and she still is interested in going with me, yet i was still getting the cold shoulder. She also started flirting with other guys (i didnt bother me cause i didnt want a long relationship and that we are goin opposite ways in august college-wise) espically her ex boyfriend in 6th grade who i knew well. He has a steady girlfriend and is engaged (im not sure if its true though) so he was no threat. The last thing i wanted was to get jealous and fuck it up between us yet i was a little pissed. I could even get her number after the trip and she gave me the excuse that "i cant give to u right now, maybe someother time".

Right now i have about one month til prom and i am playing it cool. I learned from my mistakes in the past, and decide to let things settle instead of finding her and look desperate. Am i doing the right thing? How would you guys handle this situation?

I would deal with it much like you are, Just play it cool, she gave you the cold shoulder, so let her come to you now. If you see her dont ignore her, but dont jump all over her either, a friendly hello is all that's needed. Just play it cool, if she wants it, let her come get it. Besides, like you said, you will both be going seperate ways soon.

I think she's playing the game. She's giving you the cold shoulder on purpose to see if you still come back. That's what I get from it anyways.

I am back in school, yet we dont even cross paths at all. I have resorted to talking through friends which know both of us. All i need is a better idea of what she thinks about me and i can work with it, yet i am still keeping my cool. Im hoping that she will come around. I think she could be playing games, yet i dont kno her well. Right now, I have to get ready for work, that will probably keep my mind clear and off her.

BIG UPDATE
I just got back from an interesting day at work. About one hour into work, she came to visit me. I took her aside and i finally got an answer to why she was giving me the cold shoulder. She was leading me on the whole time. She was in a relationship and still had feelings for the guy. I was super pissed, yet i didnt get mad at her. I spoke my mind, and told her that i wasnt going to force her to go to prom with me and that it was on her head for backing out. After that, i took it like a man gave her a hug and let her go. It was the best decision at that time. Im just glad she was honest with me.
After she left, it hit me real bad. I was upset about it and felt sick to my stomache. It was like a swift kick in the nuts. I was down for about an hour, got pissed off at a custumer.
It was about 5:00PM and something happened that ended my depression. Dawn, a member of management team at my work, showed up to get gas. She asked why i was down, and i told her what happened. She reminded me about her daughter (she tried to hook me up with her daughter for prom since Christmas, yet i didnt kno what she looked like, plus im not a fan of blind dates). Dawn showed me a picture of her and she looked hot. Dawn also told me that she was going to ask her daughter to come down to my work to "get some gas" and I would meet her. An hour later, her daughter showed up with two of her friends. All of them were very good looking, however she was the hottest out of the three. We talked for a bit and she wanted to hang out with me on Saturday. I instantly forgot about the other girl that led me on, and i was in a good mood for the rest of the night. It shows that good things happen to good people.
Here is what i know about her. She is a senior at a different school (looks like im going to two proms, good thing im getting my promotion to shift runner at the end to the week and goin to make $8 an hour). I hear from a co-worker who knows her that she is a very nice girl and that is what im looking for in a person right now. And one last thing is that she make my former prom date look like a dog.

I was 'going' to say from your first post (before i saw your second) that she isn't ignoring you because she doesn't like you anymore. I found (not not nessasarily true all the time) that when a chick knows she 'has' you, she plays it cool.
My ex (the bitch who cheated on me) flirted with me all the time, and i back, then we'd have make out sessions, then ignore me almost the entire night until everyone went to bed..But that's not the point, i was going to say she still liked you, just didn't want to show it.

I heard that she was talking shit (Tuesday before she told me that she wasnt goin with me) about me at lunch to the other people at her lunch table, most were chicks that i was cool with. She made it seem like a was begging to go to prom with her and that i was stalking her, all lies. Those chicks that were listening to the crap that she was saying about me, told me the next day (Wednesday) what she said about. I told them what she done to me and how a got another date within an hour of her rejecting me. They thought it was so funny and they couldnt wait to rub it in her face. At the end of the day, i heard she got really jealous, thats what i call payback. she finally knows how i felt when she dicked me over that day. I also learned that her supposed boyfriend goes to college in syracuse, and that he doesnt give a shit about her. Now she is all alone and i have a date, i hope she is very bitter about it.
As for the new girl, i was talking to her mom who was leaving work the same time i came in, and she said i made a good impression on her when she came by that day. I also heard she was going to drop by work on friday (she is off that day and i have to work)so we can talk and make plans see a movie and hang out sometime. Life is good right now for me.

Thx for the advice. Im going to both proms and im good in the money situation. I just became shift runner at my work, $8 an hour, and last week i worked 37 hrs, this week 35 hrs, and next week 32 hrs. Plus i have some money saved up in my bank.

As for the other girl, before homeroom, she was talking to a friend that i usually talk to before homeroom. She looked at me, said "hi" the first time she talked to me since that day. I just walked past like she wasnt there. I also found out that when she heard about the other girl, she begged another guy, someone i kno, to go to prom with her. He is weakest kid, and he is also a little bitch. I talked to him about her and he is afraid the she might ditch him too. I find that very funny.

He should just turn HER down.
