Did a head gasket; no start, no fuel!

Howdy!
I finished putting a head gasket on a D16. I'm trying to start it.
The car hasn't been run in about a two years. To get fuel to the motor without senseless cranking, I put a vacuum hose into gas tank with a rag wrapped around it to help seal. I blow through the hose, pressurizing the tank, forcing the fuel up to the fuel filter.
I loosened the banjo bolt so the fuel could flow freely...except not a drop of gas is getting there.
I turned the key on, thinking the fuel pump would pump some fuel up to it...but nothing comes out. I cranked on it for a minute or two, still no fuel.
What's up? Is the fuel pump shot? How long does it usually take to get some fuel to the motor after a long time of not being run?

The fuel could've gummed up the fuel lines and/or fuel filters from just sitting in there for so long...

I'll get a fuel filter. I can't think of any other reasons that NOTHING would come out of that banjo bolt.
