i just wanna know what everyones opinion is on speaker boxes. whats the best one:sealed, ported, or bandpass? i have heard that u might lose sound quality with some but i wanna know different opinions

best for what? personally, i don't like boxes because i need trunk space, therefore i go with infinit baffle. But if i had to pick, it would be ported tuned low. :cool:

My opinions:

Sealed - good transient response, not enough low end
Ported - much louder, much better low end if tuned low, high end suffers slightly, but that really depends on the sub (by high I mean 60-80hz)
Bandpass - unless you build it perfectly for your exact sub, it will be very peaky at one frequency and pretty much suck for music

My preference is a low-tuned ported box, something in the high 20's at the most.

i have a 97 explorer so i have all the space i need basically because its just going in the back cargo area. would it make a difference with all that extra air space?

nah nah you for got one vented is the way to go
it will sound way better and it will take in more air
so that your subs hit harder
