Are preludes still made in japan?

A friend of mine told me they still make the prelude in japan, they simply don't import it to the U.S. because of emissions. I havent found anything about it, but that doesn't seem right to me. I thought after 2001 they didn't make them anymore period. However, she says that's why she was still able to get parts for her mid 80's prelude. Now she knows nothing about cars, and her parents handle all of that. But hey, maybe I'm the idiot here.

NO, they do not make preludes anymore in Japan or anywhere. They still might make popular parts for the older cars because older cars break, and need to be fixed. You are correct.

It is true that there are some cars, such as the Supra, that are still in production in Japan but not imported here due to emissions and poor sales. But the Prelude is not one of them.

They dont make Preludes
They dont make Supras
They dont make RX7's
They dont make Skylines (well technically they do but they are basically a 350Z with a different nose or a really boring sedan...theyre not what everyone on here thinks of as a skyline)

i'm sorry...i was under the impression that if Nissan's japanese site (look at the url) had a listing of the Skyline on their lineup, it didn't matter if it looked like a VW Beatle, it was still a skyline

They have been making skylines since the 60s.
Just because a new model comes out 5 years after it was des dosn't mean they stop making skylines...

Most world manufactors build more parts than they do cars, allowing for spares that will be needed 5 or more years in the future. (its called aftermarket surport).
Honda for example builds 10 years worth of spare parts, including things like engines for ever model.
If they still have parts left over after 10 years they start selling them off cheap over a period of 2-3 years, and eventualy anything left is simply dumped on who ever will pay for it.

The Prelude, and Prelude parts have no been made for many years. However there will still be stocks of parts for all models from the 3g on. The 3g parts however will be in on verge of being dumped.

And of course most of the machine tools, body stamps etc, are kept for 10-15 years as well.
For the right money it would be possible to build most, or all of the parts required to build a new Prelude, but you would be talking millions of $$$.
