I just found out from my local dealer that check engine light code has indicated a bad CMP sensor/synchronizer. Is this dificult to change?

I have not done one, but from what i have read and been told the sensor is not to bad to do. But if you need to go any further you will need special tools to reset the drive assy.

Thanks but I have already changed it out. The whole inside of the sensor was shreded so I thought I would need the alignment tool as well. But as it turns out you need to know someone with atool if you don't want to buy one. Even the Ford dealer where I bought the part from was no help on the tool. Not daunted my brother in law said it looked like an old distributor. He set it in with out the tool and it runs fine. Go figure. But thanks for the come back!

What part did you end up replacing? Was it only the plastic sensor or the expensive synchronizer assembly as well?
