I'm looking to get rid of my '95 v6 this summer because it just doesn't have the power I want. So my question is whether i should get a '95 gt w/ the 5.0 or get a 96-98 with a 4.6. I know the horsepower is rated about the same but I want to know which engine would be more reliable and cheaper and easier to upgrade. I am looking to get the hp out of the 200's... thanks!

The 5.0 will be cheaper and a lot easier to upgrade. The 5.0's aftermarket is also bigger than the 4.6's. Do a heads, cam, and intake swap. Then follow up with the bolt ons like the TB, MAF, and injectors/regulator. Finally tune that ecu and your well out of the 200's.

I like the 4.6, but as far as your upgrades the 5.0 would be the better choice.

on the real homey i think that the 4.6 might last longer cause its newer but the fiveoh is alot better! if u find a good one like in good condition...i would go with the fifty! 5.0s are really easy to modify and cheaper, get ur whole exhaust done first then u can rebuild ur whole intake and throw in some performance pulleys and ull be killing them! the five ohs are really good cars! i have a 91 and shes my high school sweetheart! get one and treasure her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 has a great aftermarket, and fairly easy to work on. And plenty cheaper for parts.
You cannot go wrong with a 302.

if your looking to put a lot into your car then get the 5.0, if your looking to keep it mostly stock then go with the 4.6

5.0, all the way. My :2cents:
If you do decide to get a 4.6, get a 99 and up, because they have the PI heads. 96-98 4.6 engines are not the easiest to modify.
