wassup everyone, I have a 2001 chrysler Neon R/T(btw the site says that chrysler Neon doesnt exist...it does...I own one :)....I am looking into dropping an SRT-4 engine into my 01' R/T....and also doing it up to the t*t's. I was wondering what u guys think about the job...and I am wondering what things are gonna be similiar/different...(motor mounts, ext.)...and also what kinda engine and body mods I can do....My knowledge of cars is pretty beginner so any help would be great

thx!

i'm not too familiar with the 01' R/T neon but srt-4 engine should fit, you might have to modify the body alittle to make room for the enigne.
well there is alot of engine mods you could do.. cold air intake, intercooler, turbo upgrade, new headers.
for body mods... new rims, body kit, spoiler, lower the car, new exhaust.

ok ,the bodies are identical between neons and srt-4's. However, the front and rear bumper covers need to be swapped out( should be direct bolt-in) as well as the side skirts, the spoiler, the hood and the wheels. The original neon badges should be removed and glue wiped clean with mineral spirits. Thats just the exterior! You now have an SRT-4 clone but it still don't look like one on the inside. Sooo...the seats, door panels, dash lid with the boost gauge, and the instrument panel all need to be swapped out. Now the hardest part, the engine. You need the wiring harness, ECM, turbo, intercooler, piping, engine mounts, the complete engine, and one thing that I don't know is if the transmission will fit from the neon but after putting all this money in I would swap that as well. Now go and find some SRT-4 badges and you'll have a clone so good that the only way someone can tell is by running the V.I.N. number! I have priced everything off E-bay to do a swap for mine and it ran about 5 or 6 grand for just the parts. Good luck!!

i know the exhaust will fit and you can use the same hangers. i sold a guy with a 2nd gen my stock rear section and hangers were in the right spots, no modifications needed. i'm pretty sure the motor mounts are the same, so you could pick yourself up some solid mounts and it would work. i was in a conversation with another srt owner and he was talking about being able to use an auto trans on the 2.4 turbo, so that is an option. just check the srtforums and look in the for sale section to get some cheap stock srt parts.

i have my stock front and rear sway bars with the endlinks for sale if you are interested. i'm asking $30 plus shipping for them just cause i want to get them out of my garage and i don't plan on getting rid of my hotchkis sways any time soon. good luck and the srtforums and srtsyndicate.com are awesome places to get info.
