Mercedes-Benz CL600 OR Aston Martin V12 Vanquish?

Which GT do you think is better

Vanquish

The Aston Martin is a better car. And it is $100,000 more than the CL. You'd have to be stupid to pick the Merc. A better comparison would be the CL65 AMG. But even then, I'd still pick the Vanquish.

BTW - Your thread title doesn't match the poll.

DB9, if it lives up to the hype.

575 if it doesn't

blindside.AMG,

I have to admit that you're right. I'm sorry... I just didn't want to get stuck with giving people only two options. ;)

The 575 is hugely appealing but the design has been around a while, so its just pipped by the DB9 for me - much as i prefer the Vanquish for its looks (and that amazing exhaust note), Aston are said to have done a much better job on the DB9's paddle-shift than the Vanq's. And that interior is simply incredible.

The Merc is too plain boring, i wouldnt even consider the C65 in this company.

Yeah, There is also exclusivity, looks, weight, and which car you like better.

Power isnt the be all and end all in this class.

SORRY TO DISAPPOINT YOU BUT THE CL 65 WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO REACH 220MPH SINCE ALL THE GERMAN CARS EXCEPT FOR PORSCHE ARE LIMITED TO A TOP SPEED OF 250 KM/H VIA GOVERNORS. AND ALL THE OTHER CARS IN THIS POLL CAN....

Plus if you're talking about modification then this poll would be nonsense since you can smoke any of these four cars with a tuned Supra. My question was based on the standard cars. ;)

I'd take the Vanquish over the others without hesitation. I've never seen a more beautiful ride

As far as performance is concerned, I would take the 575. Ferrari makes a fine automobile.

Still, that is not the point of the thread. A GT car should be judged equally upon apearance and comfort as it is for performance. These taken into consideration, yes the Aston Martin Vanquish does edge out in front in my book.

For me it's a judgment call between the 575 or Vanquish, I think the Vanquish looks better but I mean, Ferrari has such a reputation and all of their cars have such a fire and passion in them. I say 575 closely followed by Vanquish

dude... the companies limit their cars to 250 km/h here because they don't want to risk negative news.
when you look at the aerodynamic parts of a merc, you will easily know why there's a 250 km/h limit.
edit: most car workshops here offer a limiter removal

oh - did you know that we have the 'autobahn'?
you're actually allowed to run as fast as you want to. and germans do that :)

so Germany is the land of speed like no other else.

btw. the autobahn speed record is held by a RUF BTR2 Porsche - 382 km/h (and the skyline blitz in my avatar tried to beat it - failed)

oh, and Ferrari 575M Maranello. sell it and buy a faster car.

It's interesting that no one is going for the DB9 even though it's the newest one in the pack...

That is because it is the slowest one in the pack.

I have to say, the Vanquish has it for me. The only reason that it’s not the DB9 is the exhaust note. The 600 is phenomenally capable, but the 65 AMG would be more suited to this company. The Ferrari has too much of a "penis extension" stigma attached to it, plus, you can walk through the panel gaps!!! Which although it saves weight, i don’t find acceptable in a car that costs that much money! Plus, I'm British, so it would have to be an Aston.

PS. Merc has a legal contract as a mass-producing company, to limit its cars to 155mph. All of them have to be. It’s a sort of "Keep the Green Party happy" scheme. They can however be removed, and then the CL 65 would be a 200+ mph car. The only reason Porsche don't is because they don’t produce and sell enough cars to fall into the category that Merc, Audi, VW, BMW, do. Its mad i know, but that’s Europe for you. As the owner, you can do what you want, but the car can't be sold in a state where it’s capable of over 160mph.

I was lucky enough to drive a vanquish, and I have never seen another car come close to it's overall build and quality, and I have driven some nice shit.

Just to understand what you're talking about..What are the panel gaps?

skubydobdo
04-29-2004, 12:58 PM
gaps that are between panels on the outside of the car. Like a gap between a side fender and a door, or a bumper and a side panel. Some cars have crazy gaps of like a half-inch or so, which looks kinda bad, while some cars have panels which almost touch, eliminating the gap.

moslerporschefreak

smaller panel gaps=better aerodynamics= better performance.

It also looks better to me.
