I have an 03 Honda Civic EX with the basic aftermarket parts (new intake, muffler, etc.). Would it be best to wait for a turbo kit to come out or to get a VTEC controller?

A vtec controller is about as useful on your stock motor as running a pair of A1000's, 1000CC injectors, and a spool.

since they don't have a kit for your car yet, you can make your own custom turbo kit or have a race shop make one for u.

go to www.psiracing.com, have them built you a Turbo Manifold, Grab an off the shelf turbo, go to your local pipe bender shop and have them make you some intercooler piping and get some electronic gagets and have fun fixing your blown motor

Id recommend getting a B18 engine swap before u turbo the car. Thats better than any D series. Focus on the motor before u turbo it. Is an 03 Ex even Vtec

well i feel like an idiot. i just bought my civic 2 weeks ago and the guy who had it before me had already done alot of stuff to it. i was just looking at a stock 03 civic and GWInquisitor is right, i don't think they come with a VTEC. i think i have a b series engine in it but i just don't know which one i have in there. haha. i was wondering why I can stay up with my friends modded 00 Si.

i dont know exactly where, but theres somewhere on the block that it would be stamped. If its a B series, it will say like B18c3 or something like that

EX's come with a SOHC vtec. But you wont feel the vtec in sohc's they were made for fuel economy not performance. The only way you could have a b series motor in that car is if someone did a engine swap already. If it is a b series motor it will say either b16a (si), b18b1 (ls integra), b18c1 (gsr), b18c5 (usdm itr), or b18c (jdm itr). But don't buy a vtec controller, spend your money somewhere else. After you find out what motor you have, it would be eisier to give you advice as to what rout to go.

I highly agree unless you plan on doing a motor swap with a larger VTEC motor later on. Engaging the VTEC earlier on a SOHC yields minor and almost unnoticeable gains. The SAFC can be used to monitor your O2 sensor output signal and provide you a reading that can be translated to the same output of a AFR gauge.

that's exactly true :) Need more info on what the exact motor is inside of the car. Get us the engine code :)
