hello i had a few questions concerning the wrx first off is the turbo 2.5l a stroked version of the 2.0l eninge? if no wouldnt b a little cheaper and a bit more reliable to build upon that plat form than a maxed out 2.0l? incase your wondering im a DSMER i have 95 gsx so making the tranistion to the wrx feels alomost natural. dont get worng i LOVE dsms i just would like to try somting diffrent. The way i was think of buying one would be to buy a insurance claim vehilce with few damages done to it. because i cant afford to buy a new one dont want to either. not that this gives me a legitiment excuse to take the engine out and add whatever i want to it. thanks for your help guys.

i have no idea what the hell you said....well most of it anyways.
i don't think th 2.5 is a stroked out 2.0. there is no car company that I can think of that strokes there engines and then use them as daily drivers(if you can consider the STI a daily driver lol). that makes know sense.
the 2.0 turbo is a good engine i'm acually getting ready to trade my gmc off on a 02 wrx.(those things are SWEEEEET!!!!*drools*)
and one of the cool things is that the shift travel from 1st to 2nd is about .25-.50in longer than the 04 STI which is i'm guessing bout 1.75-2.00inch travel(yeah thats short and the nake shrot throw shifters for the wrx). so you could very easily scratch the tires in second(well that's my guess anyways). and personaly from exp. the wrx well blow the doors off a first gen turbo ecilspse deffinetly.(i'm sorry but when you get dusted buy a 2 gen 1.8 sohc dual carb honda prelude...thats just really bad)

Well, the 2.0 can be stroked to a 2.2 and 2.5l. If you're talking about getting an STi over a wrx, i'd do it. the 2.0l in the wrx is a very stong engine, ive had no problems modding it, runs like a dream.

sorry for the fucked up typing. smoked buy a l.8 onda prelude id have to see it. a lot of the dual over head cams cant even beat gsx's down hear unless there hooked up. oh well and besides i dont know why every underestimates hondas i personally dont want one but they can put down power if tuned right. it the DRIVERS that need to be slapped there som got damn cocky.

oh and ot th reply that said there no companies that dont run stoked factory engines waht do you think the 4g64 is? the diffrence between the 4g63 block and 64 is raised deck hieght and crank and pistons. that is why so many dsm guys are stroked there 63's using the 64 crank and diffrent rods.

my bad. i didn't know the diff between the two.
and the reason why i was able to beat that first gen was a.head gastket
was blown(i have yet to see a turbo first gen up here that doesn't). b.it had no top end what so ever. that's were i beat it at. i kept up with it and then when i hit 90 i just started to walk right by him.
oh and i forgot to mention the 2 gen prelude has factory cold air intake(just pess the headlight flip up and instant cold air), the DX(like my old one) has a dual cab setup so there it's a totall of 4 barrel and 4 jets for each cylinder, and the cars built for autocross for the fctory, low idle sits at 1450rpm (for the 5spd) from the factory, and the car ways only 2243lb for the DX 5spd, and it has a LSD from the factory. so evan though it only had a claimed 100hp (if it's ture or not is another story) from the factory it could still box. (and my old one was running half off the exhuast manifold and half the the custom made 2.50in exhuast system)
the car is basicly built for top end. there was no car i ever raced that could keep up with me in the top end. it keeps the power though all the gears. that and having no govner helped(:D:D:D honda never installed one:D:D:D)
but i'm sure if i had raced a turbo one that had been better taken care of it would be another story.

1450 rpm at idle damn! you sure thats stock and you just dont have a bad adjusted idle screw or vacum leak? what what was the redline you must of ate up a lot of gas.... anyway do you guys know what i should look out when buying a used wrx? you know what goes wrong on them the most...

nope. if you look on the engine sticker it'll say stock idle 1400 auto, 1450 manual. and no i didn't use up a lota gas. i once did 300 miles in two days and the gas needle barely moved.

I'd like to know more about the WRX too...I'm gonna test-drive one this weekend most likely, whether I buy it new or used is yet to be decided.
