B20 in a maxima-how??

My friend has a v6 maxima and is looking for some more power, so i suggested that he put a b20 out of a CR-V in there for some more torque and revs. He liked the idea, so now im trying to figure how to fit this engine in theere. I allready bought the engine off of a local shop, so i got a couple of questions:

1: whats the easiest way to drop otu the dq35 (thats what he told me it was)? the bottom or use a cherry picker?

2: who makes mounts for this swap?

3: will the motor fit the stock transmission?

4: How much faster will the b20 maxima be than the dq35?

well first off thats a terrible idea...the worst one ive heard of since "can i put a b16 in my maxima"... Why the hell would you that...as for torque a 3.5 litre v6 is gunna put out more torque then a 4cyl motor...and its a vq3.5.....other then that you should be playing around, and since i had nothing better to do, i gave you some feedback...cr-v motor...things like that hurt peoples heads...

Dude, not to flame or anything but you are on crack if you somehow believe that a B20 has more power than either the 3.0 Max or especially the 3.5 Max.

First off, it is a 4 cylinder and I believe the torque/hp rating on that is significantly lower than either the 3.0 or 3.5, Honda's aren't known for their torque.

The fact that you would put a 4cyl in a bigger car like the Max should tell you something, if that was the case Nissan would've built Maximas with a 4cyl from the beginning.

Go tell your buddy to join www.maxima.org (http://www.maxima.org) and take this ridiculous suggestion over to the boards there so that they can laugh him off the forum.

I'll put either of my Maximas against any B20 Honda and as long as he isn't turbo'd then he isn't going to beat me.

I'll try and get the numbers for the B20 later but here are the numbers for both Maximas:

2000 Maxima 3.0=222 hp/217lb ft torque

2002/2003 Maxima 3.5=255hp/246lb ft torque

not a stock b20. you gotta put a b16 head on it. and the only reason that is so effective is because 9 out of 10 times it's put into a 1900 lb honda body. crvtec builds can be very nice but only in a good application, which this is not. if it takes a s/c'ed b20 to beat the engine you are replacing why not just supercharge the vq35. you'll put out 350+ fwhp w/ a stage one stillen v2 supercharger, adding an intercooler will up it a bit more.

to swap in the honda engine you're gonna need new engine mounts, shift linkage, tranny, ecu. it's gonna be a lot of work with no major benefit, if any, over the stock VQ.

I'm not sure what a B20 can run at the track but I'd almost have to say that more than likely it will beat my 2k Max but will be in for all it is worth against my 2k3 Max.

Like BP said though, let me throw an SC on either of my Maximas and for sure your little Honda with whatever engine will be seeing nothing but taillights and eating exhaust fumes.

SSR now has a Turbo kit for the Maxima VQ3.5 and it will push approx. 600hp to the crank, so unless you're rollin a Z06 it won't even be close.

That's about right... 3.5 Maxima= 240 HP, 265 TQ. 2.0 CRV= 146 HP, 133 TQ, so 3 cylinders of Maxima would be about same TQ as CRV. :lol2:

Seriously though, you would need some wicked boost and/or juice to get similar performance from the 2.0 Honda motor

I couldnt believe it when i saw the title, My friend has a b20 in his hatchback civic, and even in that its not THAT fast, im racing him soon but from riding in his car im sure hes not that much faster than my auto 3.0 VQ
