Anyone know what kindof paint would be best to use on the armrests in the 93-02 camaros.. It's a vinyl type material and everything i try doesnt take to it well.. It's still sticky after a few days.. any help would be great!

i would visit the local body shop, preferably the one connected to a dealership, and ask the guys there. they would know best.

kinda rough it up with sandpaper and try a Kiltz oil base primer on it, then try painting it

i always like to look at it this way: if you ever are painting a surface that is going to be touched and rubbed constantly, dont. of course i dont know the ins and outs of painting so maybe there is some kindof special durable paint you can use...

yes sand and prime it before you paint it.
I seen a 94 that had chameleon paint inside and out.
pretty sharp.

LET ME KNOW IF THEY FIT.
I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN DOING THAT
THAT WILL BE YOUR BEST BET.
THE OIL OFF YOUR HANDS AND ARMS EATS PAINT OFF THE INTERIOR.
ITS KIND OFF LIKE YOUR HOUSE YOU HAVE TO KEEP DOING THEM AT LEAST EVERY YEAR.
THEY MAY MAKE SOME THING TO SPRAY ON THE PLASTIC TO HELP THE PAINT ADHERE TO IT.
IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I'VE DONE ANY PAINTING.
YOU MAY TRY A COUPLE LOCAL PAINT SHOPS.
OR LOOK UP SHERWIN WILLIAMS OR DUPONT ON THE WEB THEY MAY HAVE SOME SUGGESTIONS.

i've been told that the door panels from 93-02 are all able to be interchanged. Although it will be real easy to tell they werent the original doors. For starters they didnt make a leather interior on the 93 production year, but who cares. DuPont has a type of paint for the vinyl, its a high friction paint used on specific places like armrests, but i hear its expensive as hell, might as well just get the new panels off ebay or from the junkyard..

to really get it to not only look but feel like it came from the factory you have to go through a pretty arduous process of getting the material and the paint to kind of bond together. ive had it explained to me before but anyone who tells you that you just need to use 'such and such' spray paint from a&a no matter if its vinyl or not doesnt know what they're talking about. if you want it done right its a pain in the butt, better to have someone do it for ya. i could tell you how its done for plastic but for those arm rests i would look into a dye rather than a paint, personally.
