I have a wrecked 92 taurus with a 3.0 liter engine. I found another 92 for 600 dollars with the 3.8. The head gasket is blown but the rest of the car looks good. would it be better to replace the head gasket on the 3.8 or drop in the 3.0? also would the 3.8 trannsmission fit the 3.0? how hard would the swap be from a 3.8 to a 3.0? thanks in advance......

I would go for the head gasket fix, it is straight foward to do and you will have a Taurus with a lot more torque than a 3 litre when you are done. Make sure to have the heads machined when they are off and pay particular attention to the torque procedure for the head bolts.
