I want to get a honda crx possibly do an engine swap, get a better exhaust system(header, High flow cat, dual exhaust catback), a cold air intake and a few other small do-it-yourself upgrades, also paint it black, get a small, subtle kit and get red tints, later do more extensive upgrades but for now just those smal ones, i dont care how it sounds,

as long as you upgrade the actual performance of the vehicle, its not rice in my book...

rice to me are stock cars with pissy-poor performance upgrades (stuff that gets you 5 extra hp, hypothetically), fart can exhaust with no new headers (and even if headers, nothing to actually use the headers with purpose, like turbocharged), and the essential shiatty looking exterior upgrade (essentially all looks, no substance)

no a modid CRX w/ engine work as you stated would not be rice.

let's say i didn't do engine work untill later but did the intake and exhaust, like i know cars that are made to look "good" without performance parts are rice. and i've hear of people bragging about their cars and having just a few small upgrades like spark plugs, catbacks etc being called rice. is it also the attitude of the car owner that would make it rice?

Yes attitude plays apart in the Ricer crap... so if you have the small stuff dont brag... or plaster you car in stickers from the company or from companys you dont have...

i beleive rice is all attitude, its about w hat the guy thinks. if you simply added a bodykit to your car ans some tints you not rice your you, if you thought that it added hp and you are now faster then yes you are rice. but if your doing what you want for your own personal likes then do it, your not rice, your you

he doesnt even have to add hp if he doesn't want to, even if he just wants his car to look a certain way, same reason people get rims cause it looks good to them, same way some people put on kits on they simply like the look, as long as he's not ignorant about it, do what you do

nah its not rice, i also agree that "rice" is mostly attitude, less of looks, at the college i go to, there are 2 honda civic sedans, they both come at the same time, with coffee can mufflers, partially painted body kits, and altezza lights, revving their engines and peeling away from cars that are just driving around, and setting off car alarms purposely, and they give dirty ass looks to everyone, now i think that is rice

on the other hand there are those people that have the same exact things, but they dont revv their engines like mad, and dont think their cars are the best n fastest cars in the world

I agree with most of the others it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks as long as you like it. What you've described isn't a few asthetic mods and actual performance mods doesn't sound like rice to me. If you want to go rice though knock yourself out. Like I said though sounds better the way you've planned it.

Not "probably", I think it is "definitely" rice! However that does not mean it is a bad car... If you live for speed and cannot afford an exotic, tuned imports are the way to go....

P.S. Honestly I do not really understand the "racist" attitude of some towards Japanese imports. There are a lot of people who do not have enough money to buy a Ferrari.
On the other hand, would I tune it if I owned an import? Probably not! :)

I seriously doubt that you will be buying a Skyline as your next car, unless you decide to take the bus to work until you're 30 and save every penny you have. Note that by his name "VTCommo" he lives in Australia (or New Zealand) VT Commodore being a Holden car... Whichever country he's in a Skyline is a relatively cheap car to buy and a very realistic goal...
