First off I would like to say that I am a newcomer in the world of sports cars. Just recently my dad officially said that I can have his car ('86 RX-7.)
And im like, wow kewl. Its been sitting in the garage for god knows how long, but we took it down to the shop just to make sure things were all good on teh car and what not. My dad showed me how the gears work and on my first trys I of course stalled out the car several times. Need to work on babying the clutch and applying the gas so that the car actually moves. Yeah, im really slow at it but im goin out pretty much every day to nail it. Oh and you can't really pop it and !go! with this car, can u? Why is that? and can the car out run many other sports cars?
Ive also been reading on this rotary engine the RX-7 uses that other cars don't. Really interesting stuff even though I didn't understand the half of what I read about the engine. :\
Anyways, I hope you guys can have some input on here and its great to be apart of the family ^_^

Congrats on a great first car, You can't "pop it an go" mostly because stock FC clutches suck squirrel nuts. As far as outrunning other sports cars, nope sorry, the rotary has a strong aftermarket though, if that is what your looking for.

Can you tell me the ups and downs about this particular car?

You need to pamper it:
Check oil every 500 miles and add any if necessary.
Change oil every 2000 miles (that's the way I do it, see what others recommend). Only use non-synthetic (I use castrol GTX 10w30)
Assuming your car isn't turbo, put ONLY 87 octane in (regular gas).
Always let it warm up before driving it.
Be sure to rev the ever loving shit out of it :D Rotaries love to rev!
You will notice also that this car guzzles gas. You will also notice people in silly honduhs giving you strange looks. ;)

Yeah I love the way she purrs and the reving of the car. I just got back from filling her up. Indeed this car is a fuel hogger. Also there was this one problem I forgot to mention about the car. Before the coolant icon keeps being highlighted and this constant buzzer sound came up.There was plenty of coolant in there. My dad took it down to the shop. They didn't really find the problem..just added coolant and changed the radiator cap and thats it. Now when I just came back the same thing happend but only this time the buzzer just keeps going on and off every now and then. Really annoying...my dad thinks that a coin slipped into the dashboard opening on the edge and its just messin with stuff back there. Do yall know what else could be causing thing?

This is true! and make sure you don't park with her door near any puddles or mud...
but don't pay for her, chics can pay for their own movies and food, they have equal rights, let me use their own dang money!

if you have to pay for sex, its not worth it... either that or your just plain ugly... and if your ugly, thats sad, and I'm sorry.
guys paying for chics started back when girls didn't work much or at all, but now girls make just as much as guys if not more. so screw wasting my money, buy your own crap.

I agree with soyo... Its not our place to pamper a g/f... i dont mind paying for her food or anything she wants.... but then again she hates it when i spend money on her..... :screwy:

acctually I do have a g/f dayna, shes hot too, and like 20 times smarter than I could ever dream to be. plus I'm not rolling in the dough so obviously my point should be proven right there.
I think I should clarify what I was saying earlier though... I can see a guy paying for the first 2-3 dates as long as its not like super expensive ya know, but if your dating a chic you shouldn't have to spend money on her every time. now birthdays or any kind of special occation, yea you should pay, but only if she plans on paying for me on my birthday! like I said, girls can make just as much as me, so I don't feel bad not paying after the first couple times

well, I havent been on a "date" in 3 years, so I guess whatever I say doesnt count anymore. My boyfriend and I share a joint account so whenever we go out, either of us pay but it all comes out the same place.

I like taking turns who pays. It works out better then spliting the cost everytime.

yea a joint account kinda makes the whole subject null huh? lol but seriously, why are we talking about this on the rx-7 boards? seems strange eh? :)

I'd say just practice launching yourself until you find what works for you.
To say on the subject. Have any pictures of your girlfriend?

Yeah hey guys..I know this thread is dead and buried but im reviving it so yall can teach the noob to not be a noob so the noob can know what to do and not ask a typical question thats asked everyday on here. Basically..help newb = less newbs. Mk ^_^
So.. Like I said..I have an 86' RX-7,right. Plain ol' ordinary..stock everything, nothing fancy. N/A. >_>..I was dissapointed to learn that the car was a non-turbo shortly after I did research on it.. So what exactly does a 16yrs old need to get the most out of a non-turbo rex? thanks and I was wondering...is there any site where I can find the abbreviations, codes , definitions of certain terms that are for the Rx-7 . Engine parts..the type of Rx-7 it is..that kinda stuff.
And also..I dont know if this is a problem but I dont get a smooth shift when I go through the gears. Its not as fast as I see most people shift. Or maybe I just suck and grannyshifting is just great -___-;;; But no..sometimes it gets stuck for a sec before it reaches the gear.
Thanks again. Love mah Wankel. :)

Start with specific questions, and post a thread for each one. . .One at a time. Good job on newbing though!
