abs/brake light comes on ?????

i have a 98 gls 1.8t and sometimes when i first start the car up the abs/brake light will come on..sometimes it wont,it will come on later down the road and then sometimes shut back off????i have no clue about this problem.if anyone could help me out with some info id appreciate it thanks

You will have to have the system scanned with a VAG scanner or simulator like VAG-COM.

do i have to go to the dealership for that???

Not if you can find a shop that has the right equipment. A generic OBD-II scanner will not be able to read the ABS codes.

i hv same problem since front tyres are changed; had the scan saying "power failure " , what should be done next ? can anyone tell me ?

Hello everyone - I joined this forum because I am trying to find the answer to the same question.

I have a 1999 VW Passat in Atlanta, GA with 79,000 miles on it.

I had my front tires changed this week and ever since, the "ASR" triangular light keeps flickering. It flickers most of the time when I am going around sharper than normal corners.
