Dont shift up at 5-6k rpms, drive smooth and shift around 3k or so. Dont go wide open throttle everywhere. Also, what about your fuel filter or things like that, or your injectors.

Don't forget your air filter!

YEah i definately agree with 90civ...your drivin habits definately affect your mileage. And check for fuel leaks from the tank to the engine. Notice any puddles under your car?

havent done fuel filter or injectors yet. gonna try replacing tomorrow . no puddles though. as far as my driving habits, i usually keep it under 5k rpm's. once and a while i build rpms.

Fuel filter is what gave me bad mileage. Oh yeah i started a new thing....Shifting at like 2500-3000. It works but talk about a crappy powerband b/w2k-3k.

Yeah that is true but in just daily driving its not like u need to be the first one to 35mph. With gas prices as high as they are right now I will gladly shift at 2500-3000rpm to save gas, who cares if im not getting that much power, lol.

The first thing I recommend for bad mileage problems is replacing the cap and rotor. You might also check to see if you are losing spark to the plugs because of bad plug wires. Open your hood at night while the engine is running and look for the spark jumping to ground. You'll also hear a loud TIC...not like, tic, tic, tic, but like TICK DAMMIT! TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK!
A bad distributor rotor will usually keep the engine from revving up to 5 grand...and yours isn't doing that...hmmm.
Oh well, usual stuff after cap and rotor is air filter, plugs, and plug wires, and fuel filter..although when a fuel filter is bad, the car will rev up to 2 and 3 thousand just fine, and then fuzz out and run like crap over the point where the engine isn't getting enough fuel.
That's about it...as long as your timing is where it is supposed to be.

PS-Oh yeah! Don't forget proper air pressure in your tires! It's critical!
