rotor question?

last week I replaced my brothers brake pads on a lancer es and I noticed that the rotor was not screwed to anything but the lugs of the car. and you could move it from side to side. that was strange becase on my civic you couldn't even do that. and he kept on complaining about vibration while breaking on the freeway. so is it normal for a rotor to move like that eventhough the new pads are clamped already? thanks for any info

rotors are not usually screwed onto anything its just the lug nuts on your wheels which hold them onto the hub. Could be that your bros rotors are warped that is why the car is vibrating during braking. Anyway have it checked because brakes are vital points of the car. As for the loose rotors, check when the wheels are on whether they are still loose or not.

when u replaced the brakes, did u have a machine shop turn the rotor's...if not...that could lead to a problem of vibration when applying the brakes....shops usually charge 5 to 10 bucks a rotor:banghead:
