Problems with f&f

OK, this is for a school project. What are all the things that f&f (and the second one) got wrong? I'm not talking about the fact that no self-respecting racer would ever put an underglow kit on their car, I'm talking technical problems, like the fact that in the beginning of the first one, the eclipse is shifted 5 times, making it impossibly a 6 speed. Stuff like that.

And please, let's not turn this into a flame war of lovers vs. haters. I just want a list of things they did wrong.

Actually, do to the editing... the Eclipse shifted 7 times... And they show Spilner shift twice into 3rd I believe. Kinda odd how it did that... when they only came with 5 speeds. hehe.

hidden gears that are unleashed in those beastly cars :lol2: would have to watch the movie again been awhile, but I saw quite a bit.

the sad thing is theres people out there that think they portrayed the cars accurately in that movie.

To summarize all that is technically incorrect with that movie, just ignore everything they say, 'cause it's all B.S.

how bout when he races the ferrari in his supposedly 9 second supra and it keeps up. i can't think of a ferrari that runs a 9 second 1/4 mile stock, the enzo only(ha, only) runs an 11.
i also heard that the supra was only a single turbo not twin, as was said in the movie, was actually tuned by stillen and ran somewhere in the 12's not 9's. that's just hear-say though, so if anyone can confirm...

well, the ferrari lets say it runs low 12's. he never used nitrous on the ferrari, but with the 9 second charger he used nitrous twice, and adding that the charger wouldn't have ran its 9 second best time since it hopped like that and took away from its time.

thing is its a movie, most movies are fake with some truth or possibility. so why not exagerate a little so i can make more money. in order to do that they felt they had to surpass reality so that people wouldnt say, hey i do that every weekend who cares, as apposed to putting in some fantasy in the movie to make people copy them, and they did just that.

well, the supra was a single turbo. it was a Turbonetice T-66 turbo. incase anyone doesnt know, when you want to get some seriouse power(ok when i say seriouse power i know that to 4-500 HP you can get with a twin turbo supra is still seriouse but i mean more like 650-1200HP) you convert to running a big single instead of twin turbos. if you want more info on the actual car go here... http://www.suprastore.com/fasandfurhol.html

in the first race -

after the race started, they were already driving for like 10 or 15 seconds.
you get a very small peek at the gauges where you can see that this blonde guy in the skyline is going like 35 mph or so - not very good after over 10 secs - plus, the tacho ends at 110 mph (180 km/h in the movie)! no joke.
and the redline is at 6000 rpms or so...

what bothers me most are the other guys, the spectators.
they totally freak out - and they're like a hundred guys or so.

okay...in F&F...how about the first race, where the 4 guys are supposed to be racing 1/4 of a mile, yet the race magically lasts for 2 1/2 minutes? Oh yeah, and the fact that they got up to 160 mph in that SUPPOSED 1/4 mile is a little bogus too.....plus, the last scene where they try to hijack the last truck in broad daylight and it all goes terribly wrong, leti's back windshield gets shot out, but a couple of frames later, it's in perfect condition again....crazy stuff.

ok, on the fnf 2 DVD there is a "prelude" to the second movie that shows you how the blonde guy gets from LA to Miami. This is where the funniest thing in both movies happens. ahem... so blonde dude is being hunted by the cops and his blazzin fast red 3000GT gets confiscated while he is in a hotel. So this pretty young thing in a convertable drops him off at a po-dunk used car shop in the middle of arizona or somthing. While the young asian dude tries to sell him a crap car he spots an old dirty car without a price tag. It just happens to be a GT-R. yep. Thats wher I got mine. lol.

You don't double clutch in a 1/4...there's no downshifting

You don't drive 100mph backwards on the freeway

Every race is ridiculous, the cars are never evenly stocked, regardless Paul Walker's cars always win.

Noone would laugh off a practical joke of raising a bridge in the middle of a race...Ludacris would have gotten killed for sh!t like that...providing any of the racers actually lived

Second, That Eclipse Is No Where Near Tens

And Third, When Jonny Tran Or Whatever, Asks The Guy Where His Engines Are, He Makes Him Look In His Engine Bay{of Hondas} And Asks Him Where His Sr20det Motors Are, Those Are For Nissans
4th, In 2stupid2mention, After The Supra Hit The Bridge, The Supra Magnificently Comes Down Hard With A Stock Bumper And Front Wheels. That All I Got

OH OH I forgot.....in the first movie, Vin Diesel is all to johnny tran, "so when do I get a shot at the Honda 2000?".....there is no such car as a honda 2000. S2000, yes. Also, in the race wars scene, if you pay attention to all the finish line shots from the ground, the cars are going about 60 mph, lol.

in the 1st movie when he spins out in the eclipse his reverse lights are on, maybe he shifted into 5th twice and then into reverse maybe thats why he shifted 7 times? and then spun out?

then when they were jacking the truck in broad daylight when the one car flips and crashes you can see how its just a junker no interior and has a full rollcage

and the s2000 thing maybe it was so they wouldent recieve a lawsuit because they would probably have to pay to use the s2000 name

There are so many technical errors, like "Danger to Manifold" then his floor plate starts to unbolt as a result... Vin Diesels whole speach on shifting... they were everywhere...

Yeah, like an IMAX movie. I'd be all for that.

As for the errors, both movies are full of them. I'm not about to list every single one that I saw, that would take up most of my work day.

Whne he hits the NOS.. he just hits it and lets off.. when in real life. you hold the button down.

Another problem is... the whole movie. It made ever ricer in the world think a honda civic was a sports car. also there was not "Rice" like thats dudes neon up top.. thats the biggest POS i have ever seen .. I think. anyway.. ay It screwed every ones mind up.

umm in f2f2 i just saw the muscle vs. rice and evo(evo is barley not rice but the other one is) they (oconner) says that those cars have hemis under thier hoods but they are chevys i thought not dodges or chryslers.

He doesn't say the Yenko Camaro has a Hemi, he just says it's pushin 500 hp.

Also, IIRC, in the first race of the first movie, there are NO corners, just a drag race, but everyone that was spectating the beginning of the race is now magically waiting at the finish line.

Yes, I know he says one of the cars has a HEMI. That would be the HEMI Challenger, which made 425 horsepower. I was talking about the Yenko Camaro, which, with the ZL-1, made about 500 horsepower. Also, I said there were no turns in the first race of the first movie, not the second movie.

In the 1st movie. When the Supra and the Charger race, the Charger burns out AND does a wheelie at the same time.

In reality, its one or the other. Never both.

I'm still enthralled at the directors "perception" of how long a mile is... Cause hell... That was the longest 1/4 mile I've ever seen.

Don't forget things like:

"Are you going NATO on me Brian?" (Should be AWOL)

"That was an $80,000 vehicle oficer" (No way even the police could blow that much on an Eclipse)

A truckload of DVD players being worth all the effort? No.

Etc...

BUT, still its a great entertainment flick that I never tire of watching.

It would be silly to have ten seconds of filmed racing. I don't think F&F was that bad at all. It doesn't make sense, but who cares. It's a movie, not a documentary.

All i can say is i was little younger and a little more foolish then i am now. I was driving my current car at the time, and i saw the movie opening night at the local theatre. I came out, got in the car and was leaving the parking lot and a couple other guys my age (at the time) were reving up their cars and going like hell all energized from the movie.

So i popped my car into neutral, floored the gas, let her rev to the sky and put it in drive.

KA-THUNK!

I'm now a little wiser and i know that neutral drops will destroy your car.

My point is that the movie had alot of crap and as a result filled alot of people's heads with alot of crap. I'm a perfect example!

My point was not that f&f sucked, it was that it is simply entertainment and should not be taken for a street-racing bible. If anyone is curious, I saw about 100 people reading my article in the school newspaper about it. Someone actually said to me, "Wow! I didn't know that huge chrome wheels made you go slower!"

Heh I do double clutch. The main reason is if I am doing a heavy downshift I don't get that annoying jolt forward. That and it adds a little fun to a normally routine drive.

I think the point is that f and f movies encourage wannabe street racers, that ruins the fun and safety of racing on the streets. They need to just play video games and not try to race their parents civic.:)
