i used the horn relay in palce of main relay it also kicks fuel pump on but car wont run so i gues sit is something with the main relay that belongs there is no engaging the injectors or something hopefully someone will read this that knows my problem i have the fuse panel layin in floor and have tried jumping the fuel relay everyway i know and get nothing :(

I don't believe you can use a horn relay in place of the fuel pump relay. Are you saying that you bought a new fuel pump relay & it still wouldn't start? Did the fuel pump run with the new relay? Don't start jumping random wires on the fuse panel as you can damage components, obviosly you know which two bypass the relay to make the pump run, that is the only safe pair to jump.

yes i purchased a new relay and the car still wont run. I can jump the relay like the old one and the pump kicks on but car wont start. Ii read elsewhere to place the horn relay in there to test pump and I did this and pump also kicks on. So this leaves me to believe something in wires somewhere isnt right. With relay jumped pump comes on with relay not jumped pump does nothing. Ii took old relay apart and it isn't burnt up either. Just seems weird to me that jumping a wire across the two big prongs makes it come on. Also using the horn relay in place of it makes it come on , but car will not run. Dealer says that relay was bad and well that isnt fixing it. The relay makes rapid clicks sometimes when ya put power to it by turning key on and other relyas under dash get warm, but cant get it running. Seeing this is my only means of transportation im stuck. Maybe there is another relay or fuse im not seeing. I have dropped the fuse panel to the floor so if there is one elsewhere maybe thats the problem but again why does crossing this relay make pump kick on but relay wont make it kick on its a brand new relay

well soemone is telling me it is the ecm or ecu which ever ya cal it saying it is another relay or a fused link that controls it and itis stopping the injectors from coming on so hopefully i can find this today and get her going

ok well i have found the fue pump fuse in the fuse panel is not getin power if you bridge the back of the panel it kicks the pump on but car stll dont start so somewhere there is a fuse/relay hiding :( no telling what is going to fix this

The fuse is wired after the relay, so it wont get power unless the relay is bridged or the until key is turned on, and then only for a couple of seconds or until the engine is cranked. If the relay makes clicking noises it probably isn't good. I wouldn't mess with the wiring just yet, if you can bridge the relay & get the pump running the engine should start. The more important problem is why the car won't start when the relay is bypassed (pump running). Make sure you are getting a spark at the plugs. Also, it's worth doing a quick fuel pressure check to make sure the pumps are working properly. There is a simple test port on the end of the fuel rail with a small bolt plug in the tip. You should have 35-40psi with the pump running.

well the relay is brand new and iahve stuck 3 relays into the panel one from anothe rjetta that was running and the problem still exists someone told me bridging the relay will kick pump on but not turn fuel system on so car wont run with it bridged now i traced a fuel pump wire from pump to fuse panel and it goes to another spot on the panel where the intermitin wiper relay is if you put juice to that wire direct the pump kicks on again but car doesnt run i can say this is my first vw and will be my last sad thing is supposidly this yr can not be out on computer and there islittle info for ths yr it was mad ein california and body and chasis unkown guess ill sell it to highest bidder that comes by my house atleast it has nice rims :\ but looks like it isnt gonna run

also i see no point checking fuel pressure at thsi time until, the pump kicks on without bypassing anything it did this a few mnths ago a si said but after taking relay out and jumping wires then putting relay back in the car ran fine and fuel pump come on everytime
