Whats going wrong with my tranny....

like the last month or so its been getting harder and harder to shift my tranny... first it was downshifting into first gear, then it was downshifting into third. now its been getting hard to upshift into those gears. Then this week second gear has been starting to cause me trouble too. Reverse is like the usual honda also.. somewhat a mind of its own. Ok so my question is why is this happening... lately all the gears have been getting hard to get into... sometimes i get a grind or a crunch... is this the syncro's? or is my tranny dieing? I've got a '94 integra GS-R with 135,000 miles on it. Clutch is strong still so i don't think its that, its the original clutch, but it doesn't slip at all. I changed the oil in the tranny yesterday but it didn't do anything. the wasn't anything in the old oil either. any ideas? thanks!
fyi... I heel-toe downshift all the time... and just this week i've had to start double clutching on first gear to get it to downshift when coming to a stop.

i had a similar problem and it was the syncros... when i couldnt get into reverse it was cause the gear was sticking and not sliding out all the way like it was supposed to. and i would get a new clutch. one clutch for 10years seems to be pushing it.

May I venture to guess that this is the tranny you learned to heel toe on? Because if so, that would explain why your syncros are going out, heel toe can be real abusive on a tranny.

just because your clutch doesn't slip doesn't mean its still good... i've found that generally when a tranny is having problems shifting its because the clutch isn't allowing it to shift smoothly. and after 135,000 and racing and shit i would def. throw a new one in..... But jcrx is the man around here so i would take his advice over mine.

acctully I learned to heel toe on my civic, but I have to think that thats probably what did it in on this tranny. How much does it cost for new syncros? If you are planing to have someone to work on your tranny, then you are pretty much screwed. First of all, now a day there is virtually no shops will do rebuild on tranny anymore unless it's a special customer request which will be very costly and will turned out to be almost as much as buying a new transmission/transaxle if not more (this goes back to the reason why there is no rebuild). You can always get a used tranny which you don't know if you will have the same problem few months down the road.
Anyways, if you happens to able to rebuild it yourself somehow, you can always order a specific part, so it could be pretty cheap.

hahaha, man tha sucks, im having the SAME exact problem with my 95 LS..Its still in the process of being all fixed up. What do you mean by its hard to get into gear? I had the problem of the whole fucking thing pretty much locking up on me. I couldnt go into gear at all, i had to shut the car off and start it in 1st gear to move it. I replaced the master/slave cyliders (recomenned) if your having problems getting into gear. Costs about $80 for both brand new. That didnt fix the problem, so i dropped the tranny. The throwout bearing i had was SHOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT, totally demolished, there were chips of the tb inside the pressure plate, floating around. I bought a clutch kit and have it installed, hopefully today i get to finish and put everything else back together.

man, i had the same thing happen to me couple of nites ago. I turned my car on and it wouldn't go into any gear. At red lights i had to turn my car off and put it into 1st then restart my car, but when i was comming up to a red light and pushed in the clutch it would start to jerk like i was going to stall out so i had to put it into N then turn the car off again so i can put it into gear and at one point i had to go from 2nd gear to 5th cuz that was the only gear it would go into.
If i have to buy a new clutch i was thinkin of gettin a stage 1 or 2 cluth kit

I had a simular problem with my 95 ls and it was the clutch, remember resurface the flywheel and i recommend perchase a kit off of ebay with the pressure plate, clutch, throwbearing and allinement tool. there is also a 9 mm pin in the clutch casing that i recommend you replace as well. get a manual (hanes) or whatever and take a look at it. it will explain what needs to replaced.

a couple of days after that happened i drove my car and it was fine. I did'nt drive it hard or n e thing so. But now its in the shop. So you're saying it is the clutch??

well shifting problems can be ass easy as low tranny fluid , to blown blocker rings , because what is a syncro,a syncro is actually an assembly that helps to engage the gear teeth with as little to no grind ass possible, but anyway if any of this is broke than your going to pay

You probably need a new clutch any way 135k is a good ways, and a new throwout bearing would make things alot smoother
