I am currently debating between these two cars. I want to compare them in a few categories.
AUTO-X: Which car is better and how much would I have to dump into the loser to make it as good?
DRAG: AWD vs RWD. V* vs Turbo4
Looks: Pretty much opinion but I would like to hear anyway
Interior: Exactly like it says
Overall: Which car is better overall.

For Auto-X the upgrade will not work since any mods will put the car in a modified bracket. To beat a stock evo - I'll questimate - the WS6 will be in ESP at least.
Anyway while the handling on a WS6 has potential the EVO is in a different league.
For drag racing I'll take the TA. Yes the AWD assures amazing launches even on street tires you still have 3 diffs you can break and the impact on an AWD drivetrain on launch is very nasty.
Looks I say the WS6, that ram air hood is just mean looking. Although those flared fenders on the evo make it look quite muscular too.
Interior: Nobody can beat the crappyness of GM plastics so i say EVO.
Overall i would take the EVO, although I'like TA's quite a bit too...there is something about that torque.

stock for stock i feel the evo-8 will win in the 1320, but thats were it ends. looks i say trans am ram air all the way. interior i say evo-8. overall i'm not sure, the trans am ram air will win at high speeds. both are very moddable. the evo-8 handling is lovely. geeez, i'll say evo-8 overall, but not by much.

yeah, we did just have this, i was hoping we weren't going to get back into this...
1/4 mile is very very close.
handling: evo.
top speed: evo tops out at 156 at the rev limit. i think the ws6 can go faster...
interior: (opinion) evo > recaro seats, momo wheel... mmm...
exterior: (opinion) evo. i like the ws6, and it's one of the few fbodies i'd own, but i'm an evo fan (surprise)

Im getting an Evo 8 MR as soon as it's off the boat coming at the end of this year.
4.3 second 0-60 according to Road and Tracks "SPEED" magazine.
sub 13 second in the quarter
.98g's on the skidpad.
This is a Z06 killer than can seat 4 and is priced at 33 grand US. =)

I'll stick with my Ferrari killer of an Evo. I can't wait for it to get off the boat.

I say Trans Am, more moddable in the end really, no replacement for displacement. As long as you don't live somewhere that gets lots of the snow during the winter, I think the Trans Am would be best, it looks like Satans car, and you just can't beat Satans car. I'm biased too though so you probably shouldn't listen to me much. :P

a Z06 killer? it still has 271hp most likely about .2 sec faster than before maybe .3 as here are the upgrades from the normal evo-8
Mitsubishi -
The MR (Mitsubishi Racing) version of the EVO VIII is a Japanese-model only and is not offered for sale in the United States. The MR package includes:
* Quicker Response Bilstein Dampers
* Forged Aluminum Wheels
* Aluminum Roof Panel
* Improved 4WD system, ADC, & Super AYC Traction Control
* Sport ABS
* Improved Engine Torque Curve
* Improved Control at High Speed Limits
* Lowered Center of Gravity
* Refined Neutral Roll Characteristics
Z06 killer, no. 12.4 is not in the mr's vocab. like i said, its upgraded but not to where it added hp, so numbers will drop not by much.

Stock off the show room floor, it will indeed beat the Z06. The MR got a mid range torque boost from 273lbs to 295, and HP is up to 285. All this and it shed 300 lbs.
Quicker 0-60 by .3 seconds, quicker in the 1320, more G's in the slalom and a quicker slalom speed to boot. I don't see how lower numbers than the Z06, means that it doesn't beat the Z06. Please, inform me.

how fast are you thinking the evo-8 is now in the 1/4 mile? the Z06 runs the 1/4 mile in 12.4 though many have run faster than that. the evo-8 runs the 1/4 mile in 13.1 with a monsterous driver. you think that 15hp dropped him from 13.1 to 12.4?
lower numbers means faster times,
now riddle me that

power wise the 300Zx will be much cheaper and easier to upgrade as with most factory turbo cars.
However the 350Z's stock and potential handling its in a much higher league due to a far superior chassis.

350Z handles like a pig out at the SCCA autocross races down here.
According to Japanese sites, the Evo 8 MR will run 12.6 in the 1320. The American version promises to have similiar, if not better times.
Sure it might not have the top end. But it is a competitor. And at 18 grand less than a Z06 I don't see the problem.
edit -- And yes it may only be a 15 horsepower gain, but it has over 20 more torque, better mid/low range power, and an extra gear now. Minus 300 lbs and better traction from the ACD, well, that should be sufficient example.
Horsepower isn't everything, hoped some folks would realize this by now.
With a competent driver, the Evo 8 MR will keep up if not beat a Z06 straight line on a 1320, let alone an 1/8th and will flat out destroy it on a road course or through tight turns. Period.
