do you guys leave all your parts on the trees and paint and then take them off and touch up or cut each one out and paint it?

Both. Depends on the parts.

+1 for both, though often the parts are attached to the tree in a bad place, so I've been known to cut it off and use a tiny drop of superglue to reattach ther part to the tree using a hidden surface. This is most common for steering wheels.

I always remove and cleanup all parts. Models examined closely will show the difference.

In 99.99% of cases I remove them from the sprue/tree before painting. You need to in order to trim the join and scrape/sand down all the mold lines. Or am I the only guy silly enough to do that to every single piece of the kit? :screwy:

Just went to vote and found the possible responses don't fit the poll question  Would you like it (super) modified 04?

When I spray things I usually take them off the sprue. When handbrushing I always leave on the sprue and touch up.

Actually after some thought, I realize that I remove most, if not all parts from the tree before painting, for the same reason RallyRaider pointed out. I will, like I said before, glue them back to the sprue with a tiny bit of glue, however, using the surfaces designated for mounting. It would be so nice if the model companies would make the attachement points the mounting surfaces from the beginning, so they could save me this step. I really hate touching up, because brush painting never ends up looking like spray paint. Not ever. For me.

I usually take them off but if there is some part that will be hard to reach after assembly (like back side of brake disc) I paint only that back side and then attach it and paint it affter assembly, only thing that I spray paint when on tree are exhaust pipes and after attaching them I detail paint them when they are fixed on model

bit of both, depends on the parts, i try to brush as much as I can on the tree. Im a bit clumsy, and if I take all the bits off, I end up losing some :(

I have found if I need to touch up something that has been spray painted, I take a small tuper ware jar and spray my paint into it using a fine brush I touch up from that. works well for me.

i always cut my parts off the trees, sand, deseam, test fit, glue together any sub assembly that will be the same color, wash parts, then mount small parts on to toothpicks with reversed wrapped tape, or small dabs of "twice as tacky "brand white glue (craft store) - also great for applying to glue joints as a masking material before painting, then just peel off when paint is dry and no need to scrape paint for areas that get glue. It depends on the parts , not a simple yes or no, but I would say, 95% of the time, parts come off .

I always take parts off the sprues, I always treat every single part individually and so using that ethos every single part gets taken off and cleaned up then painted. There is always a way to attach a part to paint, I use all types of methods like toothpicks with tape inside out, superglue to tack a part, bluetack, clips etc

I always remove them. Sanding stubs and paint touch up will always show.
