Automatic into Manual

This summer i am wanting to switch my transmission from an automatic to a manual. I was going to buy the Richmond 5 speed tranny, but then some one suggested finding a wrecked camaro with a 6 speed in it, and having it rebuilt for street and strip, and taking all the rest of the parts out of the car that i need. Also rebuild the clutch for what i want. Any other ideas from anyone would be nice...

what's the 6 spd out of? cause i think the LS1 might have a different bell housing pattern, someone correct me if i'm wrong. and you probly wouldn't have to have it rebuilt unless it's grinding in, out, or between gears, cause i doubt your engine is powerful enough to tear up a manual. It's ur car so I wont tell ya what to do, but an auto is faster. although i do enjoy driving a manual transmission myself, if your goin to a strip i'd stick with the auto

thats pretty much the way to do it. find yourself a donor car and just take everything that you need. the ideal situation would be to by the whole thing wrecked for a couple hundred and park it in your driveway that way when you need something or need to see how something goes you can just walk outside and check it out...
