ok, my friend was replacing his front rotors on his 95 accord EX, now I had a 97 LX for a while but had it for such a short amount of time never worked on it and didnt get to know the car. over the phone I asked if there were any phillips screws that hold the rotor on like they are on a civic and no, and the 4 bolts you can se they took out but it didnt come, I ended up over there later and quickly flipped through the book and just looked at the pics, and then looked under the car, now the way I would go about it is taking off the lower castle nut, and using the tuning fork tool to break the joint, swing the assembly out and the axle would come out the back after that 32mm or whatever it is nut came off, then I could get to those 4 bolts holding on the rotor and replace it. now this kids dad insists on a slide hammer, I never truly understodd what he was gonna use it for because I dont see it working any way I could think of, he said something about it will screw on(im assuming he means the axle shaft, nothing else I can think of it would screw on at least) and it will pull out the whole U joint. but I mean,(once again ive never worked on a accord, but im assuming the axle is basically the same design) the axle shaft has the 3 bearings on it that fits into the cup on the end and then the splined shaft comes off of that. how is the U-joint gonna get pulled out???

so am I completely wrong or am I the one who knows what they are talking about???

You have to take off the cv nut and pull the cv shaft back. There are four bolts on the inside of the hub assmebly. Take out those 4 bolts. A slide hammer will make it easyer to remove the hub assembly. After you take off the hub then take out the four bolts on the front.

but you have to break the lower ball joint loose so you can swing it out a bnit so that the axle will come out enough to get to the 4 bolts in back right? and then you use the slide hammer?

I just use an offset 12 mm wrench. You can pop the lower ball joint but its not needed. The best way to get the lower ball jojt apart is to take a good sized hammer and bash the knuckle part that surrounds the ball stud. Give it a few good wacks and then use a pry bar. It will pop. I dont remove the ball joint.
