98 neon shift knob...

how the hell do i get the shift knob off my car? i bought a momo shift knob and the thing is obviously not just a screw off..so please someone help. this thing has to go on...its to pretty to be sittin on my desk. :banghead:

You have to pull the covering that is around your lever down. Once you do that, there is a spot on each side of the lever that you have to pull out while you are pulling up on the knob. It is much easier to do with a friend to help. You might have to pry the covering a little bit with a screwdriver or something to get it started though.

Pull the boot all the way down and look for the botom of the shifter. There are 2 tabs on the side of the shift arm. that u have to lift up and pull both of them outwards towrds the doors and pull up.,., Its easy when you see it.It is not a twist off there are no threads..,If that dont help look at this link http://neons.org/howtos/shiftknob.shtml
