a split second maybe, not enough to cause any problems,
as i say a good fuel comp wouild sort that out anyway even if it was a problem.

I told him it would do that, and that's because I have heard mixed results. On 3si a few people have complaints about it, so I figured I would pass on what I heard. I didn't mean to imply they wont work, just that some people don't like them, so it's really a personal choice.

This is posted by Jung on 3si:
"When I first put the HKS on I mounted it beside the fuse box in the front. It was close to the hood when I shut it but didn't rub. It did rub one of the intercooler hoses but not to badly. The HKS was loud and did turn quite a few heads. However the car ran rich and when I ran WOT and shifted you could see a puff of white smoke. I also didn't feel the car was as quick. Now that I recirculate I can feel a difference. (I should have data logged before and after but I was too lazy.) You can still hear the BOV but not like before. It is way louder than the stock BOV that you can hardly hear at all. Unless you are going to use an AFC or MAFT or Arc 2 I wouldn't recommend venting to the atmo. Still another option if you want to vent to the atmo. would be to run a blow through system. I know that Dejon Tools sells a system. But this still involves a MAFT. "
So this is one of the people that I was talking about having issues with running rich. He even got white smoke from unburnt fuel coming out of the exhuast. Apparently if you have an A/F controller then you can fix the problem. I don't have experience with doing that, but apparently it works.
My only thoughts would be that recirculating it would be a better choice because you wouldn't have the problem of running rich in the first place, and because I would think it would help respooling the turbos quicker. Anyone have any other thoughts?

yes you are correct about the recirculating bov being a better choice, but they are not as loud and shit scary as an atmospheric bov, lol. as you say it is purely a matter of preference. as far as the spooling side, dont hold me to this one but as far as i know a bov only releases surplus pressure that isnt required which reduces compressor surge and as far as im aware an open loop or recirculating bov should spool up the turbos at same speed? i cant understand why he had that amount of unburnt fuel in his exhaust, the rfl only runs rich when the bov dumps excess air and if you can imagine our engines are doing 1000 revs per min even on tick over, that excess fuel should be long gone in a split second out of his system but i agree it does richen it up.

The Apexi s-Afc as a spot just for this setting.
You can adjust by % on decelleration to account for the loss of air.

I also just purchased a VR4 and i have chosen to go with a closed loop BOV. I am still wondering what is the loudest close loop bov. I was thinkin TurboXS racing Bypass valve Type h-34. Anyone agree or disagree???

i have a question for my fellow vr4 owners...I am faced with a problem. My car has 87,000 miles on it and still has the original timing belt :uhoh: > i think it is time for a new one. Anyone know how much this cost/ and or where i can get it done. Also is their any performance stuff while im in that timing belt area of the engine :evillol:

Did you get the full 60k tuneup, or did they(you) whoever skip it. because if you skipped it, you definantly need to get it all done.
Timing belt is around 150 if I remember correctly.
here are a few sites that provide info/instructions for 60k tuneup and timing belt info, I'd check them out to see where you stand.
