Custom=Dubs???

A search of the word custom in this forum will bring you to a long list of cars outfitted with dubs. I myself find dubs pretty nice, but I just feel that it's getting way too played out :disappoin .

So enclosed, is my custom Maisto S2000 with a list of mods...
Re-painted from yellow to white
Custom clear corners
Custom front bumper
Custom sideskirts and rear valence (inspired by C-West)
Shaved windshield squirters
Custom wheels and cross-drilled rotors (that still roll and turn)
Modifications to front and rear axles to make wheels flush with body
Custom hardtop
Custom spoiler

To do list:
Engine and interior detailing
replace s2000, license plate, and Honda decals

Please do not misunderstand me and think that I'm bashing on "dubbers"
I just think that people would like to see what other kinds of mods can be made.

Your right. That's why I consider most people driving on 20's or bigger a bunch of posers. They just like whats popular and not what they actually like. I've been into the custom truck scene since i was 10 or so(thats around 12 years). Posers=Followers.

By the way, very very nice.

Looking good! I must that Dubs are everywhere and I agree that they're overused but its often the only source of custom rims. They're brand name, can be found in a variety of sizes and usually look pretty good in comparison to stock wheels. Just use em in moderation. That is a fine looking car there btw.

Thank you everyone for all the replies and compliments. It feels great to have your work appreciated, mainly because most of my friends aren't into collecting and modifying die-casts. Thank goodness for Automotive Forums.com
And to answer jcz1987's question, everything except the wheels, tires, and rotors were custom made from plastic styrene sheets, and epoxy putty.
Currently I am puttin the final touches to my 1:18 2004 NSX-R replica, just have to buy some more color ink for my printer to print out the decals for the car. BTW Gafoto I really dig that Onyx Autoshop :ylsuper:

I agree, people think throwing on 22's is a custom. Its a modification. Great work man, I wish we saw more of this kind of customizing.

Put the links to the pictures in [img] tags. Click the picture of the mountain and sun above where you type your post and paste the url there, do that for each picture and it will show the picture right here on the board.

Hey no problem man. Did you take a look at the project roadster? I had problems with it and I needed to scrap it and start over, so the new one is 1/6 scale and a different design. The progress is in the car modeling section, a link to it is in my signature.

I cant wait to see more out of you!

yeah, i was wondering how long it took you to put all that together on the front bumper..also, was it difficult to make everything even out ?
thanks

The front bumper took me a while, mainly because I wasn't able to work on it on a regular basis. Depending on what kind of mods to the front bumper you'd like, your building time will vary. Keep these things in mind. Use plastic styrene sheets to build a exo-skeleton or basic shape of the bumper. Then use epoxy putty, and mold it into the shape you want. However don't expect everything to be perfect at once.

I don't fully understand what you mean by everything evened out, could you get into more detail?

like, is it hard to shape it..what tools did you use? :)

Tsuchiya Keichi

Shaping it was quite easy, however figuring out how to is what's hard. You have to use your imagination to figure out what and how you are gonna do things.
If you are interested in making a bumper similar to mine, I could walk you through the process step by step.
Or, you could pick a different kit of your own, and I'd gladly give you advice on how to do it.
The tools needed for the bumper were: Sand paper, x-acto knife, scissors, styrene sheets, and epoxy putty.

where did you get the epoxy putty?

At my local hobby shop. Tamiya brand epoxy putty, it's usually found near the tamiya wax's and so on.

Where did you find those wheels? They look exactly like Konig Verdicts without the center caps.

Looks GREAT !

Skyline rims! What happened to the steering wheel? My cars may not have brakes but at least they can steer. Just...sometimes the wheels steer independently. :D

Its the new telepathic system so if you think right, it turns right, if you think left it turns left. I wonder what happens if you think up?

Oh noes! One has to wonder why the steering wheel is sitting next to the seat though. Put some glue on that puppy.

About the decals. Where did they come from? Got a source for the rest of us?

I think he wanted to replicated a race steering wheel.
