blown transmission?

here's the story of how i believe i blew my tranny. one night i was driving my friend home and i tried to race this supra. i redlined it in second, and shifted into first instead of third. it over-revved, and for the rest of the night the clutch was slipping horribly. i hoped that i just damaged my clutch cable, so the next day i tried adjusting it, but it didn't make a difference - i got one block away, and my transmission stopped grabbing AT ALL. i could shift into gears without pushing in the clutch, and it wouldn't grab at all. it was like having the clutch pushed in all the way, all the time. so we jack up my car at my house and pull the tranny, and find that my clutch disc is shredded on the pressure plate side (worn down to plain metal and rivets messed up pressure plate BAD) so i went to the junkyard and pulled a clutch disc and pressure plate from a DX (apparently it doesn't fit onto the Si trannys, different drive shaft size) so i went and got a clutch kit from auto zone, and installed that shit. now, my transmission was about ready to be put back on, and we worked for 2 days trying to pull it back up through the hole we dropped it down through. we couldn't, so we loook at my crappy haynes manual, and it says that you can split the transmission apart from the bellhousing and install it in 2 pieces - we decide that would be much easier, so we start to split the tranny apart. we get it about a 1/2" apart, and notice that something is rattling around inside the transmission, and 2 pieces of metal (from shift selector fork?) are floating around in there. so we get those pieces out of there, and start putting it back together (because we saw all the gears and we said "fuck it" - plus we couldn't get it open all the way, it was stuck together somehow (and no, there weren't any extra bolts on the transmission, they were ALL out, even the drain/fill plugs)) so we decide to slap it back together and try pulling it up through the hole we dropped it down through again, and we realize that the driveshaft no longer turns when we try to move it with a pliers, and you are no longer able to select gears with it. (shift linkage is stuck in transmission?) what do you think the problem is? i cant get the tranny apart, and it won't move or do anything now. think i need a new tranny? also, how rare are Si hatches to be in junkyards with the tranny still in them? (the kind where you pull your own parts) sorry this was so long, it takes a while to explain this shit. thanks for all/any help :D

wow, one long ass post.
First thing I would do is burn that useless manual you have & buy a real one. www.helminc.com
If it were my car I'd junk the trans & get a known good trans or rebuilt. Then I would start thinking about removing the valve cover & head to check for any bent valves.
Online 91 CRX manual - pretty much covers 89-91 Civic/CRX http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual/2gsm/default.htm same manual as you would get from helminc except most of the important wiring diagrams are missing, this is why a paper version is better.

I say screw that tranny and buy another one. I've got a dx tranny that works fine if you need it. $50. Also, if you don't like the long gears of the dx tranny, go to hmotorsonline.com. They sell ZC trannies for $150.....that's still cheaper than most junkyards will charge you. JY usually charge like $200 for a tranny. If all else fails get one ebayed, you should be able to find dx/si trannies on there. But what year is ur car? If you have an 88, the new clutch u just bought for it won't fit any other year tranny except an 88. But if ur car is not an 88 don't worry about it. Never buy an 88 tranny, even if it is an si one. They have a different spline count on the input shaft. And the clutch for it is smaller than the other year trannies. Also, you won't ever find a performance clutch for an 88 tranny.

ok when u try to get the tranny open it only opens like 2 1/2 inches right? u have to go to the top of the tranny and find a round plug of metal that has a scuare inlet in it, take a wrench (dont know how to say it in english im from purto rico) and open up that plug thingy. then get a pair of twezers, big ones or a screw driver, you will see that in the edge of the hole that the plug was in there is a o ring with 2 pins stiking out of it. with the screw driver or the twezers try and close the 2 little pins ( or open, dont remember). then u can pull the shell out of the tranny. sorry if u dont undrestand me but its quite dificult to explain and i dont know that much of english. good luck
