Hey guys i'm looking to put a "performance" muffler on my 93' Prelude SI. I REALLY like the carbon fiber mufflers because of their looks.. what what would something like that sound like? I really want a nice sound out of the lude nothing ricey and annoying,.. but when i punch it.. i want to know it. I've heard good things about Greddy Evo exhaust systems but dont realy have the money to invest in a whole catback exhaust system. I'd prefer just to buy a performance muffler and/or cat converter.. thanks -matt-

Sticking in a muffler alone is pretty ricey in of itself. Why not just keep saving for that full catback.

Well either way I go wont the exhaust sound annoying? and why pay 300 for a full catback when all a full catback is, is just bigger piping?? i dont think 300 dollars for 3 HP tops is a good investment.. not to mention a possible loss of torque

You are trading off an incredibly unmentionable amount of torque for greater upper end power. Not to mention you are setting the stage for any future modifications that you plan to do. Don't believe in that needing backpressure crap. You don't want it.
Get the Apexi WS catback. As silent as performance catbacks get, almost as much as stock. If you want that loud ricer rumble sound, then get the Apexi N1 or Greddy EVO. If you don't want to be ricey, then why would you want to change the sound of your exhaust?
The stock unit does just fine.

Yeah you don't want your exhaust to sound like mine... Ebay muffler with straight through exhaust baby! (Actually the muffler sounded alright before i cut the resonator and cat out and put bigger piping...)

Be careful who you are calling Ricey.. I had my homemade shit exhaust before my EVO and the EVO is about 5Xs quieter. And how can you even compare it to the N1? Have you even heard an EVO?

I had my exhaust done recently and had 2 1/4 inch piping run from manifold back and then through the 2 chamber flowmaster that was already there, way too much buzzing and I mean LOUD like a 2 stroke on steroids or something, so then I went to a 3 chamber they had lying around, but it still was WAY too loud. so I had about 2 feet of the body pipe removed and replaced it with a 24" smittypack as a resonator, and that was an awesome sound, not too loud when cruising, but fairly loud when racing, and just had a nice deep smooth tone to it.
they let me rev it with nothing but pipe on there also and pipe to a muffler doesnt really sound ANY different than having a muffler at the end of the setup, you gotta put some kind of resonator in there or youre cars gonna be the defenition of the bumble-bee-ricer-exhaust

The N1 has a deeper tone than the EVO. They are both straight through cats for the Prelude. I can stick my fist into both ends of each one, and both give me a headache.
It's about preference. And I don't like either one.

supertrapp mufflers
completely tunable, you can get any tone you want
my car has one. i can go from dead quiet- to so loud it actually made my ears ring for a while after driving accross town. i swear it... louder than straight piping.
kinda pricey $170 and it's only about 7 inches long
